CHILD FRIENDLY CONFLICT!

Memory Verse: Acts 15:11 “On the contrary, we believe that we are saved through the grace of the Lord Jesus in the same way they are."

Conflict is when people don’t agree. It can happen when we want different things or see things in different ways. Even people who love God can have disagreements! In Acts 15, some people thought that new believers had to follow old rules like circumcision. Others believed that faith in Jesus was enough. This caused a big disagreement!

Is conflict bad? Not always! Conflict can help us grow. It can teach us to listen better, be kinder, and understand others more. The Bible says in Romans 12:18 that we should try to live in peace with everyone. And in Matthew 18:15, Jesus teaches us how to talk things out when someone hurts us.

Sometimes we argue because we’re thinking more about ourselves than about God. But when we follow God’s Word and let the Holy Spirit guide us, we can solve problems in loving ways. Conflict can make friendships stronger if we handle it with care.

What happened in Acts 15? Some people thought that Gentiles (non-Jews) had to follow Jewish rules to be saved. But Paul and Barnabas said that faith in Jesus was enough. The church leaders talked, listened, and prayed. In the end, they chose peace and unity over rules that weren’t needed.

What can we learn?

- Speak the truth in love (Ephesians 4:15)

- Listen more than we talk (James 1:19)

- Work together (Ecclesiastes 4:9)

- Agree to walk together (Amos 3:3)

- Focus on heavenly things (Colossians 3:2)

Let’s remember: Jesus came to bring peace, love, and unity—not arguments. When we let pride or selfishness lead us, we cause division. But when we let God lead us, we build strong friendships and a stronger church.

REFLECTION QUESTIONS

1. Can you think of a time when you disagreed with someone but learned something good from it?

2. How can you be a good listener when someone is upset?

3. When should you stand up for what’s right, and when should you choose peace?

PRAYER: Dear Jesus, thank You for teaching us how to handle conflict. Help us to be kind, to listen well, and to speak with love. Show us how to work together and stay united, even when we don’t agree. Help us grow to be more like You, amen.

Shalom
