CHILD-FRIENDLY EXERCISING YOUR SPIRIT MAN!
Memory Verse: 1 Timothy 4:8 (ICB) "Training your body helps you in some ways. But serving God helps you in every way. It helps you now, and it will help you in the future too!"
What Does It Mean to
Exercise?
We all know that exercise
helps our bodies stay strong and healthy. People go to the gym, run, dance, or
play sports to stay fit. But did you know that your spirit needs exercise too?
Just like your body has
muscles, your spirit has “spiritual muscles” that help you grow closer to God
and live a strong Christian life.
What Is Spiritual Exercise?
Spiritual exercise means
doing things that help your spirit grow strong in God. Here are some ways to
exercise your spirit:
- Prayer – Talking to God
every day.
- Reading the Bible –
Learning what God says.
- Worship – Singing and
praising God.
- Fasting – Giving up
something to focus more on God.
- Fellowship – Spending time
with other believers.
Just like you wouldn’t grow
strong by exercising only once, you need to do these things often to grow
spiritually!
Keep Going Even When It’s
Hard
Sometimes, exercising your
spirit can feel tough—like when you’re tired, sad, or busy. But just like
athletes say, “No pain, no gain,” we grow stronger when we keep going even when
it’s hard.
God wants us to be strong in
our spirit so we can face life’s challenges with faith and courage!

grow strong in my spirit. Teach me to pray, read the Bible, and worship You
every day. I want to be healthy in my heart and close to You. Thank You for
helping me grow in Jesus’ name. Amen.
Shalom,
