CHILD-FRIENDLY FROM SERPENT TO DRAGON1
Genesis 3:14–15
Memory Verse: Jeremiah 15:16
"When I discovered your words, I devoured them. They are my joy and my
heart’s delight."
Have you ever seen a cartoon
character who loves cookies so much they can’t stop eating them? That’s like
Cookie Monster from Sesame Street! He keeps eating cookies and gets more
excited every time. In real life, zoos tell people not to feed animals because
it can make them wild and dangerous.
Guess what? That’s how it
works with our thoughts and actions too. If we keep feeding bad habits like
fear, anger, or selfishness, they grow stronger—just like feeding a little
snake until it becomes a big, scary dragon!
In the Bible, God cursed the
serpent in the Garden of Eden. But later, we see that serpent become a dragon
in Revelation. Why? Because it kept feeding on dust, which means human weakness
and sin.
So, what are you feeding
today? Are you feeding fear, jealousy, or laziness? Or are you feeding your
faith, kindness, and love for God?
The Bible says we should
feed on God’s Word. That means reading the Bible, praying, and thinking about
what God says. When we do that, we grow strong in our spirit and can defeat the
“monster” before it grows too big.
REFLECTION QUESTIONS
1. What are some things
you’ve been thinking about a lot lately? Are they good or bad?
2. Can you think of a time
when a small bad habit became a big problem?
3. What does it mean to
“feed on God’s Word”? How can you do that every day?
4. What good things can you
start feeding today to grow stronger in your faith?
PRAYER: Dear God, thank You
for loving me and giving me Your Word. Sometimes I feed the wrong things like
fear or anger. Please help me to stop and choose Your way instead. I want to
grow strong in You and not let bad habits become big problems. Help me to read
the Bible, pray, and trust You every day in Jesus’ name, Amen.
Shalom
