CHILD-FRIENDLY KEEPING UP APPEARANCES!
John 7:24 – “Stop judging by how things look. Be fair and judge by what is really right.”
Have you ever tried to look
good just to impress someone? Maybe you wore your best clothes or acted a
certain way so people would like you. That’s called keeping up
appearances—trying to look perfect on the outside, even if things aren’t
perfect on the inside.
There’s a funny show about a
lady named Mrs. Hyacinth Bucket (she says “Bouquet”) who always wants people to
think she’s fancy and important. But she’s more focused on how things look than
what’s real.
What Does God Care About?
God doesn’t care about fancy
clothes or perfect hair. He cares about your heart—how kind, honest, and loving
you are. The Bible says in 1 Peter 3:3–4 that real beauty comes from inside,
not from what we wear.
Even the prophet Samuel once
thought someone looked like a king just because of his appearance. But God told
him, “I look at the heart” (1 Samuel 16:7).
Why Is This Important?
- People may judge by looks,
but God sees the real you.
- We don’t need to pretend
to be someone we’re not.
- God wants us to be honest,
kind, and true—not just look good.
MEMORY VERSE: John 7:24 “Stop
judging by how things look. Be fair and judge by what is really right.”
REFLECTION QUESTIONS
- Do I ever try to look good
just to impress others?
- What does God see when He
looks at my heart?
- Have I ever judged someone
by how they looked?
- Is there anything I’m
pretending to be that I need to let go of?
PRAYER: Dear Lord, help me
not to worry about looking perfect. Teach me to care more about being kind,
loving, and honest. Help me see others the way You do—not by how they look, but
by who they are inside. I give You my heart and ask You to help me be real and
true, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
Shalom
