CHILD-FRIENDLY STRENGTHEN YOURSELF AGAINST THE ENEMY!
2 Chronicles 17:1-5 TLB
Then his son Jehoshaphat became the king and mobilized for war against Israel. [2] He placed garrisons in all of the fortified cities of Judah, in various other places throughout the country, and in the cities of Ephraim that his father had conquered. [3] The Lord was with Jehoshaphat because he followed in the good footsteps of his father's early years and did not worship idols. [4] He obeyed the commandments of his father's God-quite unlike the people across the border in the land of Israel. [5] So the Lord strengthened his position as king of Judah. All the people of Judah cooperated by paying their taxes, so he became very wealthy as well as being very popular.
Did you know that sometimes
we leave our hearts and minds open to bad thoughts or wrong choices—just like
leaving the door of your house wide open? If we don’t guard our hearts, the
enemy can sneak in and try to make us do things that don’t please God.
King Jehoshaphat was very
wise. He made his kingdom strong by building walls and forts, but most
importantly, he trusted God and obeyed His commands. That’s the best way to
stay safe—by following God’s Word!
The Bible says in Ephesians
6:12 that we are not fighting against people, but against spiritual enemies. We
can’t win by ourselves—we need God’s power!
Memory verse: Ephesians 6:10
“be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power.”
God wants us to guard our
hearts, just like Proverbs 4:23 says: “Guard your heart with all diligence.”
That means we should be careful about what we watch, listen to, and think
about. If something makes us forget God or do wrong things, we need to remove
it—just like the Israelites removed idols in Deuteronomy 12:3.
Jehoshaphat prayed and asked
God for help. And God said in 2 Chronicles 20:15, “The battle is not yours, but
God’s.” Isn’t that amazing? When we trust Him, He fights for us!
We can also be like
watchmen—people who stay alert and warn others of danger. God wants us to watch
over our families and friends by praying for them and helping them follow Him.
So, let’s stay strong in
God, read His Word, pray every day, and keep our hearts safe. Remember—God is
with you, and the battle belongs to Him!
