CHILD-FRIENDLY: WATCH YOUR MOUTH!
Proverbs 31:26 – “She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue.”
Have you ever said something
without thinking—and then someone got hurt or upset? Our words are powerful!
They can make people feel happy or sad, loved or left out.
The Bible teaches us to
speak with kindness and wisdom. That means we should think before we talk and
make sure our words help, not hurt.
What Does the Bible Say?
Proverbs 15:1 – “A gentle
answer turns away anger.” If someone is upset, kind words can calm them down.
Ephesians 4:29 – “Don’t use
bad words. Say only what is helpful.” No mean talk, no rude jokes—only words that build others
up!
Luke 6:45 – “Out of the
heart, the mouth speaks.” What’s in your heart will come
out in your words. So fill your heart with love!
Proverbs 21:23 – “Watch your
words and you’ll stay out of trouble.” Be careful what you say—it can keep you safe!
Colossians 4:6 – “Let your
words be full of grace, like salt.” Salt
makes food tasty. Your words should make people feel better, not worse.
Add Some Flavors!
Saying something nice like:
- “You did a great job!”
- “I love your smile!”
- “That’s a cool drawing!” can
make someone’s whole day better! You never know what someone is going through,
so always choose kind words.
Be Like a Parrot!
Repeat what God says in His
Word:
- “You are loved.”
- “You are special.”
- “God has a plan for you.”
Let your words sound like
Jesus—full of love, truth, and kindness.
MEMORY VERSE: Proverbs 18:21
“The tongue can bring death or life; those who love to talk will reap the
consequences.”
REFLECTION QUESTIONS
- Can I think of a time when
my words helped someone feel better?
- What can I say today to
make someone smile?
- How can I remember to
speak like Jesus?
PRAYER: Dear God, help me to
watch my mouth. Let my words be kind, loving, and full of life. Teach me to
speak like Jesus and to make others feel happy and loved. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Shalom
