FROM SERPENT TO DRAGON!
Genesis 3:14-15 TLB
So the Lord God said to the
serpent, "This is your punishment: You are singled out from among all the
domestic and wild animals of the whole earth-to be cursed. You shall grovel in
the dust as long as you live, crawling along on your belly. [15] From now on
you and the woman will be enemies, as will your offspring and hers. You will
strike his heel, but he will crush your head."
Stop feeding the monster!
There's a children's show called Sesame Street featuring a puppet named Cookie
Monster who craves cookies for a sugar high. Zoos worldwide post signs asking
people not to feed the animals. Why is that? Well, when we feed them, we give
them power, making them grow and sometimes turn wild. It's true for us
too—whatever we feed thrives and takes root.
So, what monster are you
nurturing? The more you feed something, the stronger it gets. Isaiah 57:17
tells us that no weapon formed against us shall prosper, but by feeding certain
fears or habits, we grant them power over us. The weapon might not be strong by
itself, but when we satisfy its cravings, we inadvertently let it gain strength
against us.
In our text, the Lord cursed
the serpent, which was made, just like man. Throughout the Bible, wherever the
dragon is mentioned, he's defeated, culminating in Revelation 12:9 with his
final downfall. But how did this creature evolve from a serpent to a dragon?
Consider what it was feeding on—dust, which represents humanity.
So, our actions, attitudes, behaviours,
cravings, and addictions feed the enemy, allowing it to grow and turn into a
dragon. The more we give into it, the more it hungers, and the cycle continues.
That's just how it works. What are you feeding and what are you feeding it?
Are you feeding your fears? Are
you nurturing that sense of lack? Are you indulging in all kinds of complexes? Are
you feeding any addictions? Whatever you nourish will grow. Instead, the Bible
advises us to feed on the Word-Christ’s flesh according to John 6:35. As it
says in Jeremiah 15:16, when His words are found, and we consume them, they
become sweet like honey within us and nourish us to grow. If we focus on God's
Word, we thrive and flourish. Conversely, if we dwell on negativity, those
thoughts will swell and eventually overpower us.
Everything we need for daily
victory over the enemy is in the Word of God. The Lord has already vanquished
it; He just wants us to keep doing our part against it. Speak the Word. Declare
it. Say it every day. Establish God's Word, and it will accomplish what it
promises. Feed on the right thing-the word that has power to destroy the
serpent before that small serpent morph into a massive dragon. A dragon packs
much more power than a serpent—it has claws, a tail, and even fire. Each aspect
of the dragon serves as a weapon. If you feed what threatens you, it can one
day overpower you because you’ve empowered it to become that dragon loaded with
tools to attack you.
Stop feeding the Monster.
Stop feeding the serpent.
Fear is a significant
contributor to this; we often let fear expand. We hop on planes without batting
an eye, trust lifts, and walk across glass bridges without anxiety. So, why not
trust that God's Word will uphold us? The truth is, we often don’t let it take
root within us as the scripture suggests. The serpent caused harm back in
Genesis, and it was cursed, with the promise that the seed of the woman would
bruise its heel. But over time, this seed began to feed the serpent, filling it
with all sorts of things until it turned into that massive dragon. Ultimately,
only the Lord can defeat it for us. So, stop feeding the monster. Instead, feed
on the Word, boost your confidence in God, nurture the grace of God, and
strengthen your anointing through His Word and Spirit.
Whatever you do, do not feed
the monster. Don’t feed the serpent, or else it’ll become a dragon.

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, I
come before You with a heart that desires to be aligned with Your will. I
recognize that I have sometimes fed the wrong things—fears, doubts, habits, and
thoughts that do not reflect Your glory. Forgive me, Lord, for empowering what
was meant to be defeated, In Jesus’ name, amen.
