PIDGIN ELISHEBA!
Exodus 6:23 “Aaron marry Elisheba wey bi Amminadab dota and Nahshon sista. Di woman born Nadab, Abihu, Eleazar and Itama for Aaron.
Plenty people, even
Christians, never hear this name before and no sabi who she be but na one of
those women wey I dey call hidden Heroine of Faith.
I see one post for Facebook
about one single mother wey get four sons, all of them wear military uniform.
Each one dey serve for different branch: Navy, SEALs, Army and another force.
Na big achievement be that! This woman train strong, disciplined men wey dey
serve their country with honour. She sit among them like queen, and she deserve
am. To raise pikin alone no easy—I sabi am well-well. But to raise four boys
wey correct, responsible men for society? Na only God fit do am.
This thing remind me of
women for Bible wey dem no dey mention, wey their name no too popular, like
Elisheba. Many people no even know say Aaron—Moses and Miriam brother—get wife.
Her name na Elisheba, and na she born Eleazar and im brothers. Na she born the
family line of Levitical priest. Aaron na high priest, but Elisheba, wey people
no dey hear her name, na she be the mama of all the priestline.
She born four sons. Two of
them collect punishment because dem no respect God altar, but her third son,
Eleazar, na im continue as priest after Aaron. Elisheba no dey find show, she
no dey shout make everybody know say, “Na me born them.” But her life talk
plenty. She be quiet but strong woman wey shape her children with God word,
guide dem make dem reach the thing God write for dem.
No be every woman of God get
pikin wey dey follow God way. E dey happen—even among pastors. Today, many
Christian parents dey raise children wey no even value to serve God. You go
hear, “Dem no dey like go church,” or “I no sabi why dem no wan serve God.” But
Proverbs 22:6 remind us to: “Train pikin the correct way, when e old e no go
forget.” As parents, e still be our duty to put Godly value for our
children body.
We no sabi exactly wetin
Elisheba do or how she take do am, but we see the result. Yes, two sons die for
their own wahala—bad heart, stubbornness and greed. Even today, some parents
try all dem fit to train beta pikin, but society wahala dey carry dem go
astray. This one no mean say na parent fail.
Elisheba do her own part.
Eleazar become fine priest wey stand em ground for key moments for Israel
journey. She no find fame or clap, just mama wey do her work well.
As mama, our work sometimes na
to encourage, pray, dey support, and dey guide our pikin for back. Sometimes,
we go act like lioness, defend and protect dem. But the most important na to
train them with God word and push them make dem reach the potential wey God put
for inside dem.
You be Elisheba? You be
single mama? Or you dey married but na you dey bear all the wahala alone like
single mama?
No worry—you still get work
to do. No believe the lie say because papa no dey, your child future don spoil
be that. With God, you fit train your child to become the best wey e fit be.
Whether you dey raise pikin alone or as two parents, still give your pikin your
best—your faith, your love, your wisdom and your prayer.
Elisheba fit no dey popular
for people ear, people no dey celebrate her, but she finish her assignment for
God hand correct. No matter who you be or where you dey, your own role
important for God hand.
REFLECTION QUESTIONS
- How you dey behave when people no dey notice
or clap for your effort—you still dey serve like Elisheba?
- Which way you fit use take
train your children (or spiritual children) better with God word?
- Wetin e mean to you to do
your assignment, even if na from back seat, nobody dey look you?
- Which lesson you fit learn
from Elisheba story to use for your own Christian waka?
PRAYER: Papa God, I submit
myself to You. Use me as You want. Give me strength to do Kingdom work—whether
na back or front. Help me to be that gentle power wey go produce the kain fruit
wey You wan. In Jesus name, Amen.
