You don ever notice say e dey easy for us to just open mouth talk anyhow—sometimes we no dey even use our head think am? We dey quick talk, but we dey forget say our words fit wound person, confuse people, or even spoil things. 

But Bible tell us to dey talk with sense. Proverbs 15:1 remind us say soft talk fit cool tempa. If we dey yarn with kind mind, compassion, and wisdom, e fit change how things dey, bring peace, and settle wahala. 

If we just dey talk anyhow, e dey cause more gbege. Ephesians 4:29 warn us make we no dey use bad word. This one mean say make we no dey swear, talk down on people, use dirty mouth or any talk wey no show God love or lift person spirit. 

How we dey talk dey show wetin dey our heart. Luke 6:45 talk say, “Na from wetin full person heart, na im e mouth dey talk.” So, anytin wey dey for your heart go still comot from your mouth. Na why you get to dey careful how you go talk. 

Proverbs 21:23 still yarn say make we guard our mouth and tongue well. James 1:26 come even serious pass, e talk say if you no fit control your mouth, your faith na wash. People dey hear us before dem see us. Wetin your talk dey make people feel? Wetin your words dey do for where you dey? 

Colossians 4:6 talk say make our talk dey sweet, make people dey happy to hear am—make e get flavour like salt. Salt dey add taste. As Christian, our mouth suppose dey add better thing for people life, dey help dem believe God, dey ginger dem, and dey lift their body and soul. 

For this our world so, people no too dey praise person. One time, I tell one man say him dress fine, say the colour fit am well. The women for there shock as if na crime I commit. But the man wife notice, and she happy (na after dem hear bad news that morning), my simple word just cheer dem up. 

If you tell person, “Your perfume smell well,” or “This lipstick fine for your face,” or “Your shoe sharp,” you fit make dem happy. People dey hide pain behind smile, too much talk, or even coffee wey dem dey drink anyhow. Make we dey show people love. Make we dey careful how we dey use our mouth. Na serious matter! 

Proverbs 18:21 talk say, life and death dey inside mouth. If you dey talk carelessly, you fit scatter things; but if you dey use mouth well, you fit bring healing and better life. Make we dey talk wetin God Word talk about every situation. 

We suppose be like parrot—dey repeat wetin we dey hear, but make wetin we dey repeat be God Word: Him blessings, grace, mercy and love. Make our mouth dey show who God be. 

Our text yarn say make we dey talk with wisdom—no be say we go dey talk anyhow. Talk with sense, love and understanding. No talk because you vex or wan beef person. No talk to wound another person. 

No forget who you be—God pikin. You no get the freedom to dey talk anyhow. Ask yourself: Wetin my words dey do for people wey dey hear am? E dey lift dem or e dey break dem down? 

Everybody dey like when dem hear, “Well done,” “God bless you,” or “You fine today.” If you go correct person, do am with love; but if you use mouth scatter person, e go pain well well. Gossip, insult, shame—no be Jesus way be this. E say make we love ourself and others. 

As you love yourself, you no go use mouth run yourself down—so why you go do am to others? If you no sure wetin to talk, abeg, keep quiet. Na silence beta pass. 

No use mouth talk wetin person no go fit forget for wrong reason, just keep quiet. Make your words dey ginger people, help, sweet for ear, and lift spirit up. 

Guard your mouth well. Guard your tongue proper. The same mouth wey you dey use praise God no suppose dey curse or run person down. Make the Word of God gide your talk make you wise for every matter.

REFLECTION QUESTIONS 

-        How I fit dey more careful to dey talk life, no be death?

-        Wetin e mean to “repeat wetin Papa God talk” for my own talk?

-        Wetin be the kind words wey I dey talk pass—e dey lift or break person?

-        I don ever wound person with my mouth before. How I go take repair am?

PRAYER: Papa God, abeg help me to guard my mouth and the things wey dey come out for my mouth. Make my words dey sweet and dey lift those wey hear am. Make I no ever use mouth talk bad thing or bring person down; but make I always dey remember to dey talk life. In Jesus name, Amen.
