THE BREVITY OF LIFE!
Job 5:26 AMPC
You shall come to your grave
in ripe old age, and as a shock of grain goes up [to the threshing floor] in
its season.
Like everything else, life
is a choice! We choose to live! We choose to die! We choose to enjoy the life
we have or choose to allow it to be taken from us.
Some live life like it’s
already over. Some live life like the dead, nothing has meaning in their lives,
and they live routinely. They are walking, breathing people who chose to exist
without enjoying the beauty and pleasures of life. They just exist!
But to "come to full
age," means we should not just exist but live life fully. This speaks to a
life lived to its fullness and maturity, fulfilled in God’s timing and purpose.
Just as grain ripens fully before harvest, a life well-lived is complete
spiritually, mentally, and physically before one goes to be with the Lord.
Have you ever been so bored
or tired of life that you felt like giving up? Sadly, many have chosen death
over the pain of living. Yet God calls us to live fully in hope and joy.
Death sadly is inevitable,
so one must live life fully to fulfil Godly purpose, enjoy the joys of life,
complete God-given assignment and exit at the right time and way.
Proverbs 20:29 says,
"The glory of young men is their strength, and the beauty of old men is
the grey head." Age is more than a number—mental, spiritual, and physical
maturity also count. While the young chase youth or maturity, the old may long
to reclaim youth, but God’s plan includes every season of life.
They say age is but a
number, your numerical age is not subject to your mental or physical age.
Psalm 91:16 promises God
will satisfy us with long life, yet many squander life by merely existing, not
truly living. How many say, “I’ll live fully when I reach that goal or age”?
Life passes quickly, so we must daily choose to live well now.
The length of days God
promises to those who fear Him includes peace, hope, and prosperity, found only
in Him. Some fear life and may stop living fully at retirement or in old age,
missing God’s blessing of a full, abundant life according to Psalm 90:10.
Isaiah 46:3-4 reminds us God
carries us securely from birth to old age, never abandoning us. Life is a gift!
Jesus said He came to give life abundantly, here on earth and for eternity according
to John 10:10.
“Life begins at forty” is
true in some ways—Moses was called by God at eighty—but till then, Moses lived
fully and faithfully. So must we.
Life is not meant to happen
but to be lived. Life is too short to just let it happen, we shouldn’t allow
the circumstances of life to keep us from living the life we’ve been given,
just as we should not allow anyone to redirect or misdirect us to live the
life, they want for us. Life is short! Enjoy it by living it!
Let your life count for
something.
Live for the glory of the
Lord.
