WHEN SATAN COMES KNOCKING!

Psalm 86:7 AMPC

In the day of my trouble I will call on You, for You will answer me.

There are times in life when things happen beyond our control and understanding. But the Bible tells us that trials will come, temptation will come, challenges will come. And when those things come, it says when you pray, not if you pray. It means we are supposed to pray when such things come up.

It says in the book of Psalms 50:51 that we should call upon God in the day of trouble, and he will deliver us. It says the poor man called on the Lord and God delivered him from all his trouble. The righteous man called as well, and God delivered him according to Psalm 34:6. The key word is “call”.

Satan came knocking! He knocks on every door. Sometimes nobody answers. Sometimes if you're righteous or if you're spiritually alert enough, you send Jesus to the door. And other times, unfortunately and sadly, there's a response to that knock.

Satan came knocking! And in my case, Satan came knocking for two. It would have been a case of buy one get one free. But as the Bible says in the case of Peter and Paul, the church prayed. We prayed! God's children prayed! Having someone in your corner is very important when Satan comes knocking. Calling on people to pray for you, not just to pray, but people who will earnestly seek the Lord until the evil is overturned or averted.

The devil always comes knocking to take something. He's a thief and that's what he does. He comes to steal. Ephesians 6:12 tells us what we’re fighting. Satan comes to steal a life and spiritual things. He's been a murderer from the beginning. And that's what he does. He tells lies and speaks negative thoughts.

When Satan comes to our door, we hear the lies, and negative thoughts. And sometimes, unfortunately, we buy into them. Doubt and fear floods in. But remember, God is waiting for you to look up for help as stated in Psalm 121. Look up in faith and hope, not in despair.

When Satan comes knocking, he comes with the intention of testing God's word and power, to make you think that God is powerless and cannot do anything. But victory belongs to us because Revelations 20.10 he's already a defeated fool.

No matter what the enemy throws at you when he comes knocking, remember 2 Corinthians 12.9, that God's grace and strength is enough for you. We can be weak, and pitiful, but remember that in Christ we are wonderfully strong.

When Satan comes knocking, stand firm according to 1 Corinthians 15.58. Let nothing move you.

When Satan comes knocking, the labour and seed of prayers over the years becomes the harvest of the day. Stand firm on the word and promises of God.

Don’t allow the enemy knocking at the door to derail you from what is written about you. Just remember and hold on firmly to 1 Peter 2.9, as God's special possession that can declare the praise of God.

We are not moved by Satan trying to hold us down because we made the mistake of opening the door for him. A mistake can be corrected and overturned because we are God’s and Jeremiah 29:11 says God plans to prosper and not to harm us. Be assured that the enemy knocking at the door will not contaminate, interrupt and cut short your life because God has given you victory.

1 Corinthians 10:13 says nothing can overtake us because God is faithful. He will not allow us to face situations that we cannot come out of because His promises and spirit see us through.

We may think there's nothing we can do. It's too difficult. I cannot get out of this. I don't know what to do. We know what to do!

- Declare the word.

- The power of life and death is in your talk.

- Take authority of the situation.

- Overturn the plans of the enemy and put the enemy to shame.

God is still in the business of doing what he says He will do. His thoughts for us are not thoughts of evil. He alone is able. He did it before. He will do it again and he's done it again. When Satan came knocking, the Lord Jesus answered.

REFLECTION QUESTIONS

-        When trials arise, do I instinctively turn to prayer, or do I try to manage them on my own?

-        What past victories has God given me that I can remember when facing new challenges?

-        How can I better take spiritual authority in difficult situations?

PRAYER: Father, thank you that you empower our spirits always to stand on your word, to hold on to your promises and to seek your help and your strength. Thank you for helping us through the dark times, through the doubt, through the worry and giving us victory in the name of Jesus.
