PIDGIN BEWARE OF MUDSLINGERS!

1 Kronicles 12:2 “Dem kom from Benjamin tribe and na der Saul from kom. Dem sabi shot arrows and trow stones well with dia two hand.”

If you don ever play with mud before, you go know say e no easy to clean comot. Once mud touch body, e dey hard to remove and e go surely stain something.

It get people wey their joy na to sling mud — to talk bad about anybody and every situation, whether dem sabi the person or not.

Bible tell us say mudslingers don dey from time of the judges reach the time when Israel divide into two kingdoms.

Mudslingers na people wey:

- Dey slander – Psalm 101:5; Proverbs 10:18

- Dey bear false witness – Exodus 20:16

- Dey backbite – Romans 1:30

- Dey revile others – 1 Corinthians 6:10

Mudslingers, rumour carriers, tale-bearers — any name you call am — dem sabi create stories, whether truth or lie, and once dem talk finish, na sure damage dem dey aim for.

Judges 20:16 talk say, “Among all these people, there were seven hundred chosen men lefthanded; everyone fit sling stone at a hair breadth and no go miss.”

Na so mudslingers be — dem no even need their story correct, all dem need na person wey go take dem lie serious, and the damage go spread quick and deep.

For Old Testament time, slingers dey as part of army during war; dem dey stay with archers to attack from far. Dem fit throw stone with full speed and never miss target.

Na so mudslingers dey use their careless words sharp sharp — to injure, to destroy, to cause doubt. Dem dey act like say dem dey show care or pity, but their goal na to cause pain.

Matthew 12:36 remind us say every careless word we go talk, we go give account for am. So make you careful about wetin you say about another person, and also about who you dey listen to when dem dey talk bad about others.

Proverbs 10:18 call slanderer fool — person wey dey accuse others wrongly. David cry for Psalm 7 tell us how false accusation dey bring pain and break spirit.

Many of us get learn to think before we talk. We dey open mouth anyhow without knowing the damage we dey cause to person name, reputation, and heart. James 4:11 warn us say when we speak evil of another believer, we don turn ourselves into judge over God’s child.

This kind of evil talk and careless gossip no fit child of God at all. Remember, Titus 3:2 tell us say we must show perfect gentleness and courtesy to every person.

Bible say, “Thus they destroyed the cities; and each one threw a stone on every piece of good land and filled it… the slingers went about and struck it.”

That one show say careless action fit spoil something wey still good, all because person no control hand or mouth.

So my people, beware of mudslingers!

Mudslingers no get any good plan for anybody. Dem go throw rumours about you, lie on your head, or spoil your name where you no dey. Their talk fit block your progress and wound your heart the place e go pain pass.

Proverbs 20:19 warn say make we avoid people wey dey gossip or expose secrets.

Just like David discover, your vindication no be from man — Romans 12:19 talk say God go repay all wrong in His own way. You no need drag with mudslingers or try to clear your name by yourself. God go defend your truth if you rest in Him.

So beware of mudslingers — avoid them and refuse to be one yourself.

REFLECTION QUESTIONS

- You don ever talk carelessly about person without thinking how e go pain am?

- You dey sometimes listen to gossip or slander without stopping am? How e dey affect your spiritual walk?

- Which practical way you fit use stop spread of rumour when you hear am?

PRAYER: Lord, help me guard my mouth and my heart from careless talk and gossip. Give me wisdom to handle slander with grace and courage. I trust You to be my defender and my vindication. Let my words bring life, not harm, and make I always reflect Your love for everything I talk and do.
