PIDGIN WETIN YOU WANT MAKE I DO FOR YOU?

Mark 10:46–51

“ Dem kon go Jeriko. As Jesus and en disciples with plenty pipol dey komot for der, Bartimaeus wey bi Timaeus pikin, one beggar wey blind, sidan for road dey beg. 47Wen e hear sey na Jesus wey kom from Nazaret dey pass, e kon bigin shaut, “Jesus Christ, David pikin, make yu sorry for mi o-o!”

48Many pipol kon dey shaut for am make e kwayet, but e kon dey shaut more-more sey, “David pikin, sorry for mi o-o!”

49Jesus stop kon sey, “Make una koll am kom.” So, dem tell di blind man, “Make yu happy! Get up bikos Jesus dey koll yu.” 50Bartimaeus trowey di klot wey e take kover body kon jump up go meet Jesus.

51Den Jesus ask am, “Wetin yu wont make I do for yu?”

Di blind man ansa, “Tisha, make my eye open, make I for fit si again.”

Wetin you want make I do for you? Just imagine person ask you this kind open-ended question — no limit at all? Na exactly wetin the Lord dey always ask us.

All of us get things wey we dey desire, but sometimes these desires no dey come true. Everybody wan make person do something for am! For Bible, plenty people dey ask God make He do something for dem — same way we too dey do every day.

When we pray about anything, we get to talk am straight — make we no dey vague — because na wetin we ask the Lord, na Him we dey receive.

Jesus don tell us for John 14:13–14, say whatever we ask for Him name, He go do am. But when He ask, “Wetin you want make I do for you?” e mean say He want make we dey specific for our prayer and particular for our asking.

Wetin you want make I do for you?

When James and John, the sons of Zebedee, ask Jesus make them sidon for Him right and left side for the Kingdom, Jesus reply with same question: They ask for honour, but Jesus warn dem say dem no understand the kind suffering wey dey come with that request.

We too fit ask Jesus anything — but make we sure say na what we really need, not just what we like.

Jesus sabi say Bartimaeus blind, but He still ask am what he want make He do for am. Jesus already know wetin Bartimaeus need, but He want make the request come from him own mouth — by faith and with confidence.

Question na request for answer — and question like that deserve direct and specific answer.

One of the principles for prayer wey Bible teach na for Matthew 7:7–11, wey talk say, “Ask, seek, and knock” — na so we go receive from God.

True, the Lord know our needs before we talk am. But if we no open mouth ask and wait in faith to receive, how we go fit prove say na our faith bring the answer?

When Jesus ask, “Wetin you want make I do for you?” — He dey expect you to talk am plain, exact, not long story. Direct question deserve direct answer.

But before person fit ask Jesus anything, before we fit ask the Father make He do something for us, we must first belong to Him — be as branch wey connect to the Vine for John 14:13–14.

When person tell us to, “Ask me anything,” e mean say dem don give us permission — power of attorney — to talk, to ask, and to expect result.

And e dey bring glory to God to answer our prayers — to save us, bless us, heal us, lift us, favour us for every area: body, soul, and spirit.

But God no go just do these things if we no ask in faith — according to Hebrews 11:6.

1 John 3:22 talk say, “Whatever we ask, we receive from Him because we keep Him commandments.” That one show say, obedience dey connect directly with answered prayers.

And because we know say God dey hear us as 1 John 5:15 talk, that one suppose give us confidence to ask anything — but we must believe say He go do am.

Nothing too big nor too small for God to handle if na prayer wey align with His Word and will. Our trust for prayer therefore dey rest for our relationship with the Father.
