PIDGIN YOU DON BORN AGAIN?

John 3:1-7 

“E get one man wey bi Farisee, en name na Nikodimos and e bi memba for di kansol wey dey rule Jew pipol. 2E hide go meet Jesus for nite kon tell am, “Tisha, wi know sey yu bi di pesin wey God send kom meet us, bikos nobody fit do di mirakles wey yu dey do, unless God dey with am.” 3Jesus tell am, “Make I tell yu true word, unless dem born pesin di sekond time, e nor go fit si God kingdom.”

4Den Nikodimos ask am, “How dem go fit take born pesin wey don old for di sekond time? Abi di pesin go enter en mama belle make di mama born am again? E fit happen like dat?”

5Jesus ansa am, “I tell yu di trut, unless God born pesin with wota and en Spirit, di pesin nor go fit enter God kingdom. 6Wetin flesh born, na flesh e bi, but wetin God Spirit born, na spirit e bi. 7So, make yu nor konfuse bikos I tok sey, ‘God go born yu for di sekond time.’

 

You don ever ask yourself dis life-changing question: You don born again? 

E no just be religious talk or fine slogan—na di most important question wey you go ever answer for your life. 

You don born again? 

Na very strong and life-changing question be dis. 

You don born again, abi you be one of di many people wey dey call themselves “Christians” just to join one group or religion? 

For Bible point of view, some people dey see Christianity as one kind religious fanatical group. 

Why you must born again?

Them born everybody for sin—na spiritual death wey separate us from God from birth. Na why we need new birth, because natural man no fit see or enter God kingdom without Jesus Christ, as John 14:5 talk am. 

No matter how gifted, moral, or fine you be, natural man dey blind to spiritual truth. E no get power to enter God kingdom by their own work because him no fit understand, obey, or please God without di Holy Spirit. 

If you tell di average person for street say dem must born again, dem go think say you mean make dem change character or behave better. But na lie be dat. Di wahala no dey outside—na di inside man wey spoil. 

Na only one road dey go heaven: you must born again. 

Water baptism, church membership, religious duty, charity, live good life, take Holy Communion, or join denomination no fit save anybody. You must born again, and dis new birth dey come only from heaven. 

Like Nicodemus, we all need spiritual rebirth; just to dey religious no reach. 

To enter heaven, we go need born physically of water and flesh and also supernaturally of Spirit. Even though Nicodemus no talk am, Jesus sabi wetin dey him mind. Na why Jesus talk say new birth—new heart and new nature—this na di only way, as Jeremiah 31:31 talk: God go put Him law for our heart and write am inside us. 

Jesus use example of second birth take explain wetin dey happen when person turn believer. Di Holy Spirit dey wash us clean from sin and make us new for Christ. 

Dis question and answer still dey valid for everybody today: You really don born again? 

To born again mean say you don leave one life wey you sabi enter another one wey you no sabi yet. E fit dey fear person, but e be di best and most important thing wey person fit do to secure eternal life. 

Di new birth—being born again—na new beginning wey destroy di old and make you new creation. 

No matter how moral, gifted, or fine you be, natural man still dey blind to spiritual truth and powerless to enter God kingdom. Without Holy Spirit, we no fit understand, obey, or please God. 

Di new birth na supernatural work of God. E no be self-improvement matter—na spiritual rebirth. Jesus explain say we must born of water and Spirit. Dat one mean say God go give us new heart and new nature, just as Jeremiah 31:31 talk: “I go put My law for their heart and write am inside dem.” 

Anybody wey never born again still dey inside spiritual darkness. 

As new creation, you no need allow old things for your past life control your new life. 2 Corinthians 5:17 talk say, you don become new creature with new life for Christ. 

You just need to accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour to dey born again. Why you no go give your heart to God today? Just ask am make He enter your heart and your life. 

REFLECTION QUESTIONS 

- You don ever think say good works or religious rituals dey enough to save you? Why? 

- How John 3:1–7 take challenge your understanding about entering God kingdom? 

- Wetin you fit do today to make sure say you really don born again? 

- If you don already born again, how you fit share dis truth with others with love? 

PRAYER: Lord Jesus, thank You say You die for cross because of my sins and rise again make I get eternal life. Today, I repent and turn to You. I invite You enter my heart as my Lord and Savior. Make me new creation and fill me with Your Holy Spirit. Thank You for saving me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
