CHILD-FRIENDLY CONFESSION!

Psalm 141:3 – “Lord, put a guard over my mouth; keep watch over the door of my lips.”

Have you ever said something and then thought, “Oh no! I wish I didn’t say that”?

The Bible says in Proverbs 18:21 that our words have power—power to bring life or death! That means what we say really matters.

Sometimes we speak without thinking because we feel upset, excited, or scared. But God wants us to speak words that agree with His Word, not just our feelings. Confession means saying what God says!

What is Confession?

·       Confession = Agreement (saying the same thing God says)

·       Confession = Declaration (speaking your faith in Jesus)

·       Confession = Praise (thanking God for His goodness)

Why Are Words So Important?

James 1:19 says, “Be quick to listen, slow to speak.” Words can build people up or tear them down.

Revelation 12:11 says we win by the blood of Jesus and the word of our testimony—that’s our confession!

How Can We Speak God’s Words?

Know the Word! You can’t say what God says if you don’t know it.

Romans 10:17 says faith comes by hearing God’s Word.

Think Before You Speak! Pause and ask, “Does this agree with God’s Word?”

Speak Life! Instead of saying “I’m scared,” say, “God gives me power, love, and a sound mind” (2 Timothy 1:7).

Why Should We Guard Our Mouth?

If we don’t speak God’s Word, fear and negative thoughts can take over.

Job said, “The thing I feared has come upon me” (Job 3:25). Fear can make bad things happen when we keep talking about them. So instead, speak faith: “No weapon formed against me will succeed” (Isaiah 54:17).

REFLECTION QUESTIONS

-        How can you make sure your words agree with God’s Word?

-        What can you do every day to learn more of God’s Word?

-        How can you remind yourself to pause before speaking?

PRAYER: Dear God, thank You for giving me Your Word. Help me to speak words that bring life and not fear. Put a guard over my mouth so I say only what pleases You. Fill my heart with faith and my mouth with Your truth. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

Shalom
