CHILD-FRIENDLY THE FEAR OF THE LORD!
Proverbs 1:7 GNT
To have knowledge, you must
first have reverence for the LORD. Stupid people have no respect for wisdom and
refuse to learn.
The fear of the Lord is the
beginning of knowledge! Does it mean we should fear God? No! The fear of the
Lord means respecting God, loving Him, and obeying Him because He is powerful
and good.
It’s like when you respect
your parents—you listen to them because you love them and know they want the
best for you. That’s how we should treat God!
When we fear the Lord in the
right way, we make good choices and stay away from bad things. God is happy
when we trust Him and hope in Him (Psalm 147:11).
The fear of the Lord is the
start of wisdom. Without it, all other knowledge doesn’t matter. When we
respect God, He gives us understanding and helps us learn more (Proverbs
9:9-10).
But today, many people
forget to fear God. They mix God with other things and don’t make Him the most
important. That’s why there is so much trouble in the world. Job 28:28 says that
true wisdom comes from God.
The world may say wisdom
comes from books or experience, but Colossians 2:3 says all wisdom is found in
God.
The fear of the Lord is like
a fountain of life (Proverbs 14:27). A fountain gives water that refreshes and
makes things beautiful. When we fear God, He gives us life and keeps us safe
from harm.
If we want God’s wisdom, we
must look for it like a treasure (Proverbs 2:5). Isaiah 33:6 says wisdom and
knowledge from God give us strength and peace.
Psalm 34:11 says, “Come,
children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the Lord.” God wants us to
learn how to respect Him so we can live a good life.
