CHILD-FRIENDLY JESUS POWER!

Matthew 10:1-10 GNT

Jesus called his twelve disciples together and gave them authority to drive out evil spirits and to heal every disease and every sickness. [2] These are the names of the twelve apostles: first, Simon (called Peter) and his brother Andrew; James and his brother John, the sons of Zebedee; [3] Philip and Bartholomew; Thomas and Matthew, the tax collector; James son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus; [4] Simon the Patriot, and Judas Iscariot, who betrayed Jesus. [5] These twelve men were sent out by Jesus with the following instructions: "Do not go to any Gentile territory or any Samaritan towns. [6] Instead, you are to go to the lost sheep of the people of Israel. [7] Go and preach, 'The Kingdom of heaven is near!' [8] Heal the sick, bring the dead back to life, heal those who suffer from dreaded skin diseases, and drive out demons. You have received without paying, so give without being paid. [9] Do not carry any gold, silver, or copper money in your pockets; [10] do not carry a beggar's bag for the trip or an extra shirt or shoes or a walking stick. Workers should be given what they need.

When we were young, we sang, “Jesus power, superpower, and other powers, powerless power.” It was a fun song, but it was also true. Matthew 10:1 tells us that Jesus gave His disciples power to help people and heal the sick. This power came from Jesus, not from them.

Jesus still gives His power to everyone who believes in Him. Children and grownups who love Jesus can use His power to pray, do good, and stand strong.

Some people try to look for power in the wrong places. But Jesus has already given us the only real power we need. Other powers may look special, but they cannot beat Jesus’ power. Only Jesus’ power can save, help, and change lives.

The Bible tells us that all power belongs to Jesus. He protects us. He teaches us. He helps us be brave. When we stay close to Jesus, His power grows in our hearts. When we move away from Him, we feel weak inside. Jesus is the true source of strength.

Jesus wants us to stay close to Him, listen to Him, and follow Him every day. When we do, His power helps us make good choices and live in a way that makes God happy.

REFLECTION QUESTIONS

-        Am I using the power Jesus gives me?

-        Do I know that Jesus’ power is the strongest of all?

-        Am I staying close to Jesus every day?

PRAYER: Father, help me stay close to You and use the power You have given me. Help me trust Your strength and follow You each day. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Shalom.
