CHILD-FRIENDLY PREVENTIVE, NOT CURATIVE PRAYER!
2 Chronicles 33:10-13 GNT
Although the LORD warned
Manasseh and his people, they refused to listen. [11] So the LORD let the
commanders of the Assyrian army invade Judah. They captured Manasseh, stuck
hooks in him, put him in chains, and took him to Babylon. [12] In his suffering
he became humble, turned to the LORD his God, and begged him for help. [13] God
accepted Manasseh's prayer and answered it by letting him go back to Jerusalem
and rule again. This convinced Manasseh that the LORD was God.
The Bible tells us in 1
Thessalonians 5:17 to “pray without ceasing,” and in Luke 18:1 that “people
should always pray.”
Prayer is not something we
do only when we are scared or in trouble. It’s every day because we need God
every day.
Prayer can feel like work
sometimes, but it is powerful. When we pray often, we stay close to God, and He
helps us long before problems even show up.
Think of it like this: We
take vitamins or wash our hands to stop sickness before it comes. In the same
way, we pray to stop trouble before it starts. This is called preventive prayer.
Sometimes we pray for a long
time before we see answers. Hannah prayed for years before God gave her a
child. But imagine if she had never prayed at all.
Many people only pray when
something bad happens. But God wants us to pray before the problem comes, not
only after.
Prayer gives us:
- Strength for hard
days
- Wisdom to make good
choices
- Peace when we feel
afraid
- Direction when we don’t
know what to do
Nehemiah prayed before
starting his big job. Abraham’s servant prayed before choosing a wife for
Isaac. They prayed ahead of time, and God helped them.
Jesus teaches us in Matthew
6:6 to pray in secret. These quiet prayers prepare us for battles we cannot see
and give us courage when challenges come.
Preventive prayer keeps our
hearts strong. It helps us trust God. It keeps us ready.
So let’s pray every day —
not just to fix problems, but to prevent them.
REFLECTION QUESTIONS
- Do I pray before problems
come, or only when I’m scared?
- What part of my life needs
more prayer right now?
- How can I learn to pray
every day like the Bible teaches?
PRAYER: Thank You, Lord, for
always listening to my prayers and for promising to answer me. In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
Shalom
