CHILD-FRIENDLY RUNNING AWAY!

Psalm 139:7-10 GNT

Where could I go to escape from you? Where could I get away from your presence? [8] If I went up to heaven, you would be there; if I lay down in the world of the dead, you would be there. [9] If I flew away beyond the east or lived in the farthest place in the west, [10] you would be there to lead me, you would be there to help me.

Sometimes we feel like running away from things we don’t like. Maybe responsibility feels too big, something hurts, someone has upset us, or we feel scared about what God is asking us to do. Many people in the Bible felt the same way.

Adam and Eve tried to hide from God in the garden. They thought He wouldn’t find them, but He came looking for them to help and restore them.

Hagar ran away because she was hurting, but God found her in the wilderness and cared for her.

Jonah ran from God’s assignment, but God used a storm and a fish to bring him back to the right path.

David felt fear and shame, but he learned that he could never escape God’s presence.

Even Paul was running without knowing it, until God stopped him with a bright light.

Just like them, we sometimes want to run. People run because they’re afraid, tired, hurt, or feel unqualified. But running never solves the problem. It only delays God’s plan and makes us feel more tired and confused.

The good news is this: you can never run away from God’s love. He is everywhere, and He never stops caring for you. Whether you’re scared, sad, tired, or hiding, God sees you and wants to help you. He doesn’t chase you to punish you—He chases you to restore you.

If you feel like running, run to Him. His presence is the safest place.

REFLECTION QUESTIONS

·        What am I most tempted to run away from, and why?

·        When has God helped me even when I was trying to avoid something?

·        What small step can I take today to stop running and trust God?

PRAYER: Father, I come to You today. Whenever I feel like running or hiding, help me turn toward You instead. Give me strength, courage, and peace. Lead me in the path You have prepared for me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Shalom.
