CHILD-FRIENDLY SPECIAL TREATMENT!
2 Kings 8:8-11 GNT
he said to Hazael, one of
his officials, "Take a gift to the prophet and ask him to consult the LORD
to find out whether or not I am going to get well." [9] So Hazael loaded
forty camels with all kinds of the finest products of Damascus and went to
Elisha. When Hazael met him, he said, "Your servant King Benhadad has sent
me to ask you whether or not he will recover from his sickness." [10]
Elisha answered, "The LORD has revealed to me that he will die; but go to
him and tell him that he will recover." [11] Then Elisha stared at him
with a horrified look on his face until Hazael became ill at ease. Suddenly
Elisha burst into tears.
Have you ever wanted special
treatment? Maybe a VIP pass, front-row seats, or someone doing something extra
special just for you. It feels good, right? Naaman, a very important army
commander, wanted that too when he went to see Elisha for healing. He thought
Elisha would come out, wave his hands, pray loudly, and BOOM—he’d be healed!
But guess what? Elisha
didn’t do that. He just sent a message: “Go wash in the Jordan River seven
times.”
Naaman was upset! He
thought, “That’s too simple! I wanted something amazing!”
Sometimes we are like
Naaman. We pray and ask God for help, but we want Him to do it OUR way. If it
doesn’t look big or exciting, we think it’s not from God. But God’s way is
different. He cares about our hearts, not about fancy shows.
The Bible says in James 4:6
that God loves humble people. Elisha’s simple instruction was God’s way of
teaching Naaman to trust Him, not the method.
Esther in Esther 2:17, was
an orphan, but God gave her favour and made her queen to save His people.
Joseph in Genesis 41:14), went
from prison to palace because God had a big plan for him.
Daniel in Daniel 6:3, was
promoted because he was faithful and wise.
God’s “special treatment” is
really His grace and purpose at work!
What Does This Mean for Us?
·
When you pray for money, God might tell you
to save and share.
·
When you ask for peace at home, God might
tell you to say “I’m sorry” first.
·
When you want healing, God might tell you to
forgive someone or eat healthy.
God’s instructions may seem
simple, but they have power when we obey!
