CHILD-FRIENDLY UPROOT THE ROOT!
Matthew 15:13 GNT
"Every plant which my
Father in heaven did not plant will be pulled up," answered Jesus.Jesus
teaches that many problems start in the heart, not on the surface. God always
works on the root, not just what we can see.
Sometimes we only fix what
looks wrong on the outside. We try to make things look better, but real change
happens when the root is healed. Jeremiah 6:14 says some people only healed the
hurt “slightly”—meaning the problem was never truly fixed.
God wants to remove anything
in our lives that He did not plant. Some habits, attitudes, or emotions are not
from Him. They are like foreign roots that grow quietly under the surface. If
we ignore them, they grow stronger and cause trouble later.
A volcano looks calm on the
outside, but pressure builds underneath until it suddenly erupts. That is how
hidden issues work. The enemy often works in silence—through small habits,
wrong thoughts, or emotions we ignore—until one day everything “erupts.”
Song of Songs 2:15 warns us
to catch the “little foxes” before they ruin the vineyard. Small problems grow
into big ones if we don’t deal with them.
Symptoms—like anger, fear,
or sadness—are signs that something deeper needs attention. Proverbs 4:23 tells
us to guard our hearts because our heart shapes our whole life.
True change happens when we
let God uproot what is wrong. Just like pulling out yams or carrots, we must
dig deep to remove the root. Only then can new, healthy fruit grow.
Psalm 139:23–24 invites God
to search our hearts and remove anything that doesn’t belong.
REFLECTION QUESTIONS
• What problem keeps
returning because I only fixed the surface
• What root has God shown me
that needs to be removed
• Am I willing to let the
Holy Spirit dig deep so healing can begin
PRAYER: Father, please
search my heart and remove every wrong root. Heal me from the inside out and
help me walk in true freedom. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Shalom
