You ever talk something before, and later wish say you fit collect am back? Proverbs 18:21 tell us say our mouth get power to bring life or death. Many times, we dey talk anyhow, follow emotions or situation, instead of to speak by faith. This year, God dey call us make we match our confession with Him Word.

Confession no be just positive thinking; e mean to declare wetin God don already talk. E for sweet if person fit hold hinself make e no talk wrong thing when time reach to talk. We all sabi act on impulse sometimes. Our word fit build or scatter. James 1:19 warn us make we slow to talk, because every word get consequence.

But why plenty of us dey just open mouth anyhow, like say we no get control? I dey call am mouth diarrhoea. You no fit hold your mouth. You just talk because you feel like to talk. Sometimes e dey sound correct for your head, e sweet to yarn am, but wetin you dey confess—e align with wetin God talk?

Revelation 12:11 show say victory dey come through the blood of Jesus and the word of our testimony. That na confession! For this new year, make we learn to confess God Word, no be feeling, emotion, situation, or bad report. Our mouth dey shape our life—wetin you always talk fit turn to wetin you go experience.

But how you wan confess the Word if you no sabi the Word? You must sabi am! You no fit talk wetin you never know. Romans 10:17 remind us say faith dey come by hearing the Word. So make the Word of God settle for your spirit. That one mean say you go dey hear the Word steady, so you go dey talk the Word steady.

Confession! Many of us dey talk according to how we feel—our emotion, mindset, situation, environment—but no be God push our confession. We dey talk wetin God never talk about us. When we suppose dey align our confession with the written Word—wetin God don talk about you?

Meditate on the Word! Make e settle well for your spirit, so e go become your normal response. 

Speak Life! Change every negative or fear-full talk to faith-full talk.

If you no talk, situation or people fit talk for you. Job 22:28 no be for play—our words get power, authority, and e even get spiritual and judicial weight. 

We get to ask Holy Spirit make e keep watch for our mouth, make wrong and careless word no escape, make the door of our lips stay locked against anything wey no dey honour God. E easy to just drop words anyhow, but “SELAH”—pause small before you yarn, because those words fit change your whole life. Make scriptural confession be daily habit for us.

Confession = Agreement (with God about sin or truth) 

Confession = Declaration (of faith in Christ) 

Confession = Praise (acknowledging God’s goodness)

All these three na serious ingredient for spiritual growth—and even for life and death matter.

We suppose learn from brother Job for Job 3:25, when e talk say the thing wey e fear most don happen to am. That one show say fear get power—e dey shape our thinking, our words, and sometimes, our reality. But we no go confess fear again! We go replace fear with faith. Instead of to talk fear, speak life and truth: “God no give me spirit of fear, but power, love, and sound mind” (2 Timothy 1:7), and “No weapon wey form against me go prosper” (Isaiah 54:17).

Na so I wan encourage you for this new year—talk only wetin God talk about you. Guard your mouth—ask Holy Spirit to keep watch over your lips make no fear-full or negative word escape. Let your confession be godly. Make e be life. Make e be divine.

- How you fit dey intentionally match your talk with Scripture instead of with emotions wey dey pass? 

- Since confession dey come from knowledge of God’s Word, wetin you fit do to sabi the Word more, make your declaration dey stand on truth? 

- How you fit make pausing, meditating, and declaring Scripture part of your daily life?

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, thank You for the power wey dey Your Word and the authority wey You don give me through Christ. I choose to align my talk with Your truth. Guard my lips, Lord, make fear, doubt, and negativity no fit escape. Fill my heart with faith and my mouth with words wey go bring life, in Jesus name, Amen.
