The fear of the Lord na the main truth wey full Bible, na the foundation of the gospel, and na the real essence of Christian walk. If this fear no dey, every other kind knowledge wey person dey pursue go turn meaningless. The book of Proverbs get one main line wey dey run through am—na the fear of the Lord—and e talk am as plain fact.

The fear of the Lord mean reverent obedience of God, na the correct way to respond to Him authority and power. No be fear wey dey make person run from God, but deep respect and awe wey go make you submit to am.

Our search for wisdom and knowledge dey start and end with the fear of the Lord. God dey happy with people wey fear am and put their trust and hope for Him hand as Psalm 147:11 talk.

This kind reverential fear na awareness for head and heart of wetin God want and dey do, e dey guide us comot from evil and e dey teach us how to apply Bible principles for life. The fear of the Lord na the beginning of knowledge! If this fear no dey, every other thing and every other kind knowledge just turn redundant and meaningless. Na this fear of the Lord dey increase wisdom and give understanding wey go still increase learning as Proverbs 9:9-10 talk.

As we look our life today, the church and the whole body of Christ, e clear say the fear of the Lord don reduce well-well. People no too get reverential fear for God again; everybody just dey mix God with anything and everything, without making am the centre of life. When we look Job 28:28 we see say the real source of true wisdom na God, but this truth don almost disappear for our world today.

World go wan convince us say wisdom na from life experience and book knowledge alone, but Colossians 2:3 show say na in Christ all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge dey hide, and the fear of the Lord na the real beginning of true wisdom and true knowledge. The fear of the Lord na fountain of life as Proverbs 14:27 talk, wey dey save person from the trap of death. In another way, the fear of God dey offer fountain wey dey refresh, cool, beautify and give us life; this fountain of life dey cancel the source of pain.

When we carry fear of God—this reverential fear of His Majesty—e go turn fountain of life inside us. If we really desire to understand God wisdom, we must find am like person wey dey find precious jewel as Proverbs 2:5 show.

Unfortunately, the fear of the Lord seriously short for body of Christ now. Many people dey mix God with every other thing without putting am as the main focus of existence. Sin don turn stronghold and lukewarm spirit full everywhere.

The body of Christ no too dey get that reverential fear for God again; we, just like Israel people of old, don dey live as if say God no dey. This lack of fear of God na im don bring plenty chaos for the world—justice and righteousness scarce, stability no dey. Na only the fear of the Lord fit override all these negative things.

Stability, wey be one of the most difficult things to see for this our generation, fit only come through the fear of the Lord wey dey cancel all the negativities for society. Isaiah 33:6 talk say wisdom and knowledge wey come from the fear of the Lord na im dey bring stability, strength and salvation. Psalm 34:11 come invite us: make we come meet the Lord make e teach us how to fear am, so we go get wisdom and knowledge to live better life.

- How I fit put God first above every other thing? 

PRAYER: Lord, teach me make I fear You with reverence and awe. Make Your wisdom guide my steps and make Your presence be my joy. Help me to live life wey go honour You for everything I do. Amen.
