PIDGIN PETER’S DAY, JUDAS’ HEART!

2 Corinthians 7:10 “Bikos wen God make pipol sorry for di sin wey dem kommit, dem go turn kom meet am, den God go save dem and dem nor go regret again. But di vexnashon wey dis world dey bring, na deat dey end am.

Every believer go face time of weakness, pressure, or failure. The question no be whether we go fall, but how we go respond when we fall. Peter and Judas—two disciples, two failures, two sorrows, two endings.

Both waka with Jesus.

Both disappoint am.

Both feel remorse.

But only one return go meet mercy.

This message show the difference between Peter’s day and Judas’ heart—how our response to sorrow fit determine our destiny.

Na the same Jesus, but different hearts! Both men dey under same spiritual environment.

- Jesus personally handpick both.

- them see miracles.

- them hear the same teachings.

- Both hold responsibility.

But their hearts shape differently. Peter dey honest, open, and sometimes too quick to act. Judas, on the other hand, hide secret things, dey calculating, and divided inside.

This one show say to dey close to Jesus no mean say you dey intimate with Jesus.

Peter’s day na fall wey lead to mercy.

For Luke 22:54–62, we see how Peter deny Jesus three times because fear grip am. But later, he cry bitterly when he remember wetin Jesus talk. Those tears no be hopeless tears—them be healing tears, because his sorrow na godly one, and he no run far from grace.

Godly sorrow dey always carry person go back to Jesus, not away from am—if heart still open to grace.

Peter’s restoration happen for John 21:15–19 when Jesus go meet am personally, come ask, “ You love Me?”—no be “Why you fail Me?” Jesus bring am back publicly and give am new assignment. He go still do the same for you. Him question for you too still be: “You love Me?”—not “Why you fail?”

Judas’ heart, however, na compromise wey lead to destruction. Judas journey no start the day he betray Jesus; e start long before that. John 12:4–6 show how he dey steal small-small from the money bag and criticise worship. Small sin harden him heart—like Psalm 119:11 warn against. Na so hidden sin dey open door for enemy enter.

Judas trade relationship for reward. For Matthew 26:14–26, we see how he sell Jesus out just because he choose darkness instead of light. The same thing fit happen to anybody if we allow hidden sin make our heart strong like stone.

But Judas’ sorrow no be repentance sorrow; na worldly sorrow. Matthew 27:3–5 show say he feel guilt, he even return the money, but he no return to Jesus. Instead, shame isolate am instead of carry am go find mercy.

Worldly sorrow dey look only the consequence; godly sorrow dey look the Savior.

The cross stand between Peter and Judas, just like e stand between us today. Both men get equal access to the same mercy. Jesus for forgive Judas too. But the difference na direction. Peter run go meet Jesus; Judas run go hide from Him.

So which direction you dey run—toward Jesus or away from Him? Your answer go determine your restoration.

Failure no be your end. Shame no be your portion. Mercy still dey wait for heart wey return. Because the matter no be the size of your sin, but the direction of your heart.

If you no wan carry Judas’ heart, respond like Peter. Acknowledge your weakness honestly and allow God heal you where e pain. Conviction no be condemnation; na invitation to come close to Jesus.

Judas hide; Peter confess. Always practice confession and accountability if you wan find restoration, not punishment. Jesus no dey restore people with shame—He dey restore with love.

After all, step back into purpose like Peter wey later become shepherd. Your failure fit later turn to your testimony.

Peter and Judas remind us say every believer go get season of sorrow, but not everybody go respond the same way. God no dey look for perfect disciples—He dey look for returning ones. Your story no dey defined by how you fall, but by how you respond to mercy.

REFLECTION QUESTIONS

·       Wetin your recent response dey say about the condition of your heart?

·       You get any hidden compromise, behaviour, or secret fight wey dey harden your heart like Judas own?

·       How God dey invite you this season to be restored, realigned, or recommissioned—same way Jesus restore Peter? Which step of obedience He dey call you take now?

PRAYER: Lord Jesus, give me a heart like Peter—soft, honest, and ready to return. Deliver me from secrecy and self-reliance like Judas. Where I don fall, restore me. Where I don drift, draw me back. Make my sorrow lead to repentance, and repentance lead to life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
