By now, many of us don already open our gifts, and some people dey happy while others no too like wetin dem get. But Bible get plenty to teach us about giving because to give na part of who God be. Our God na the greatest Giver — He be Gift wey dey give without stopping. His generosity start with the most precious gift ever given — His Son, Jesus Christ. No other gift fit match that one. But from Him example, we learn how to give with intention, love, and purpose. 

We dey inside season of thanksgiving, gratitude, and celebration. People dey spend plenty money to buy gifts. Very soon, people all over the world go begin open presents. But truth be say, many of those gifts no get real meaning or value — some useless to who receive am, and some even worthless to both giver and receiver. Dem no carry any thought or love inside. 

But the kind gift wey God give us no be like that. His gift thoughtful, intentional, sacrificial, and priceless. So we gatz ask ourselves: our own gifts nko? E get meaning? E dey come from true love? 

Market full with gifts of different sizes and prices. We dey buy for colleagues, friends, family, church people, and secret Santa. But how much thought we truly put into wetin we dey buy? We dey think about the heart of who go receive am, or we just dey buy anything make we no look like bad person? 

Some people even dey give out things wey dem no want again, things wey no get value for them house, just to say dem give something. But as believers, God call us to give differently. 

Proverbs 11:25 talk am well: “The generous person go prosper, and who refresh others go also be refreshed.” When we give with the right heart, God make sure blessing go return to us. 

1 Corinthians 16:2 teach say giving suppose be thoughtful, sacrificial, generous, and joyful. We suppose consider our income, the occasion, and the person we dey give to. But many of us no dey follow that wisdom. Sometimes we even dey throw our pearls to pigs, as Jesus warn for Matthew 7:6 — giving value to people wey no appreciate or honour am. 

Some believers sabi protect their own money well but go still spend plenty on people wey no even care about their effort. Meanwhile, the ones wey really pour blessing, prayer, and encouragement into their lives — sisters, brothers, pastors — dem go forget. 

Make you think well this period: 

Who really add value to your life this year? 

Who pray for you when things hard? 

Who encourage you when you almost give up? 

Who stand by you when others waka comot? 

Do we remember these ones when we dey give, or our mind just dey church group, colleagues, and social circle? 

Jesus talk for Acts 20:35 say “E better to give than to receive.” And Luke 6:38 promise say when we give, God go make sure e come back to us in good measure. Some gifts wey we give dey open door for new blessing because we give am with cheerful and grateful heart. 

2 Corinthians 9:7 talk say make we no dey give by force or under pressure because God like cheerful giver — person wey give because e want to, not because e gatz to. 

We no supposed wait till December or special occasion to appreciate people. Gratitude suppose be lifestyle, not season. Every time, opportunity dey to show love and appreciation. Make we learn to express am in ways wey people fit see. Make we honour those wey God use to bless us. 

We dey deceive ourselves if we claim say we love and thank the God wey we never see, yet we ignore the people wey our eyes dey see — people wey God use lift, teach, and strengthen us.

Send message. 

Give small gift. 

Say thank you. 

Show appreciation. 

Let somebody know say dem matter.

PRAYER: Lord, thank You for the gift of Jesus and for showing me how to give with love and purpose. Help me to show gratitude to people wey bless my life and make I dey give cheerfully, as You don give me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
