PIDGIN WITHOUT LOVE! 

1 Corinthians 13:2 “  if I dey profesai and fit undastand evry sekret and knowledge or if I get faith wey fit move mountins and I nor love oda pipol, I go bi nor-tin.”

 

Wetin be the difference between love and obligation? Why e be say sometimes we fit love person without feeling say we owe am anything, but other times we go dey do things because we dey feel obligated, even when love no dey inside? The truth no hard. Plenty things we dey do just because we feel say we must do am, no be because love dey push us. But when love truly dey, e go naturally make us do extra — to bring joy, to bless person, even when nobody force us. 

So yes, e possible to get one without the other. Dem no always dey move together, and either one fit work or fail by itself. Bible clear for 2 Corinthians 9:6 say wetin person sow, na e him go reap. If you dey give with free hand, generosity go come back to you. But if you dey hold back, no expect too much in return. 

When we dey act only because we feel obligated, e mean say love no dey really inside. We just dey do wetin we suppose do — maybe because we dey fear wetin fit happen if we no do am, or because we dey find eye service or reward. Anyhow we look am, once na only obligation dey push us, our heart no go truly connect. 

But love, e dey change everything. Love fit make person go far pass wetin him ever think say e fit do. Sometimes we dey do wetin we no go even consider for another person, all because we genuinely care. Matthew 5:41 talk say if person force you go one mile, go two. Sometimes that “extra mile” na just to put smile for person face or do something special; other times na because we don see small reward for front. 

Anything we dey do, Colossians 3:23 remind us say make we do am as if na for the Lord we dey do am. Whether na love or obligation push you, the main reason suppose be say you dey offer that thing unto God. 

Joy and the fruit of the Spirit no be something wey we fit buy. Dem no be market goods — na gifts wey God give us free. God want make we share the joy, peace, and kindness we don collect from am with others. As God don show us mercy and compassion, e expect make we pass the same to others. Na both love wey dey push us from inside, and at the same time something wey Bible call us to do as Christians — an obligation! 

So I go ask you this — you go fit go that extra mile for person, even when e be like say the person no deserve am or no get anything to give you back? Even when we no get plenty, if we still get small to give, God always get way to fill the gap. 

E no dey take plenty to warm person heart — to make somebody smile, say simple kind word, or show small kindness. Even one cup of water matter, as Matthew 10:41-42 talk. Small act fit carry big blessing for God eye. If you get more than you need, why you no give small to person wey no get at all? 

E easy to hold back. Sometimes we dey feel say people no deserve our goodness, or dem no go appreciate am, or we just no get the energy to give. But remember say none of us deserve the mercy, salvation, and love wey God give us — yet He give am freely. 

One time I talk for meeting say, most of us get fine clothes for wardrobe wey we no dey even wear. The next day, one sister come church with correct outfit, she talk say my message touch her, she realize say she get plenty things wey she no dey use, so she decide to give some out. Funny enough, some of those lovely clothes even reach me, and I happy well! She give because of love, but also because Bible encourage am to give. And as she give, she open door for new blessings enter her life. 

So tell yourself today — wetin you feel obligated to do, and wetin love dey push you to do? Which kind seed you dey plant today? Make you think am well. Everything we get na from God. We just dey hold am small, sometimes for ourselves, sometimes for another person’s sake. 

Enjoy wetin God don put for your hand, but no ever forget — God fit always provide more than anything we fit give away. Our Father dey both obligated and moved by love to bless us — no be because we perfect, but because we dear to am. 

Make we do the same. Make we ready by both scripture and love to share with others wetin God want bless dem with, even when e be like say dem no deserve am. Because truth be say, we too no deserve am, but God still give us anyway — just because we be Him children.

PRAYER: Lord, thank You for Your love and mercy. Help me make I dey act from love, no be just obligation. Teach me to go the extra mile, to sow seeds of kindness wey go honour You. Fill my heart with joy to give, and remind me say You always provide, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
