UPROOT THE ROOT!

Matthew 15:13 AMPC

He answered, Every plant which My heavenly Father has not planted will be torn up by the roots.

For this people’s heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed…”  Jesus reveals that spiritual blindness and recurring issues begin in the heart, the root not the surface. God always deals with the source, not the symptoms.

We must stop dealing with the surface issue if want a permanent solution.

Many of us manage life only at the surface level. We trim the leaves, beautify the branches, and try to make the situation look presentable. But surface work never brings true change.

We take actions that soothe the problem instead of healing the source.

We fix what is visible but leave what is invisible untouched.

Jeremiah 6:14 says “They have healed the hurt of my people slightly…” “slightly”! God calls this slight healing—temporary, shallow, incomplete.

The Lord God wants to uproot what He did not plant but we sometimes, in stubbornness, ignorance, or sheer disobedience hold on to the very thing we’re asking the Lord to deal with for us.

This means some things in our lives—habits, patterns, emotions, afflictions—were not planted by God.

They are foreign matters in the soul. Foreign things don’t belong. Foreign things don’t submit. Foreign things produce foreign fruits.

And unless uprooted, they continue to grow quietly beneath the surface. Then, we become comfortable with then and even give them room to keep growing.

“Why trouble what’s not redoubling you” one might think but it eventually will trouble you if you leave it.

Everyone overlooks the danger of dormant Volcanoes. No one thinks about it, gives it a scrutinizing look, analysis it’s inaction until it erupts. A volcano doesn’t erupt suddenly.

Pressure is building beneath—even when the surface looks calm.

That is how the enemy works:  Silent activity. Hidden habits. Undetected spiritual intrusions. Deep-seated emotions and cycles we ignore.

Then one day, “PUFF” an eruption.

The lava spills over, burns and consumes everything in its path. And people will say “but it's been dormant.” It's been silent. Yes, it was physically, visibly dormant, and silent, but was doing something in the background, underneath, just as the enemy does in our lives.

Song of Songs 2:15 says to “Catch for us the foxes, the little foxes that ruin the vineyards…” If we don’t catch the “little foxes,” they grow into destructive forces.

The symptoms reveal the root! We treat symptoms:

We pray away discomfort instead of asking God for discernment.

We adjust lifestyles without addressing spiritual roots.

We medicate pain without healing the heart.

Symptoms are not the enemy, but signals that tells us something deeper is demanding attention.

Proverbs 4:23 commands us to “Guard our heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.”

Sometimes, guarding the heart starts from asking pertinent questions- why, what, how and who? Until we do, we will keep reaping the fruit.

The heart—the root—is what shapes the fruit.

True and lasting transformation requires uprooting. Just like yams, potatoes, carrots, and tubers must be dug out from the root, you only see the truth when you uproot.

Some roots will reveal fruit. Some roots will reveal emptiness. But nothing changes until something is pulled out.

What do you need to pull out from your life? What root do you need to uproot for breakthroughs?

You cannot harvest a transformed life while leaving toxic roots buried.

Psalm 139:23–24 declares “Search me, O God… and see if there be any wicked way in me…” Let God inspect the soil of your soul and help you uproot every foreign root.

REFLECTION QUESTIONS

·       What recurring issue in my life keeps returning because I have only treated the symptoms, not the root?

·       What has God revealed that He did not plant in my heart, family, or habits that needs to be uprooted?

·       Am I willing to let the Holy Spirit dig deep—even if it feels uncomfortable—so true healing can begin?

PRAYER: Father, in the name of Jesus, search the depths of my heart and reveal every root You did not plant. Uproot every hidden pattern, cycle, weight, and seed that works against Your purpose for my life. Heal me from the inside out. Give me the courage to face the root, not just the symptoms, and the grace to walk in true freedom, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
