CHILD-FRIENDLY OPPRESSION!
Proverbs 14:31 TLB
Anyone who oppresses the
poor is insulting God who made them. To help the poor is to honor God.
Oppression means treating
someone badly or unfairly, especially people who are poor, weak, or unable to
defend themselves. The Bible teaches that when we hurt others, we hurt God’s
heart because He made every person with love and purpose.
Oppression can look big—like
bullying, unfair treatment, or using power to harm others. But it can also be small
ignoring of someone who needs help, staying silent when we see something wrong, or
acting like someone doesn’t matter. God says every person is valuable, and He
cares deeply for those who are hurting.
In the Bible, God rescued
the Israelites from Egypt because they were being treated harshly. He heard
their cries and came to help them. Jesus also showed love to people who were
ignored or mistreated. God always stands with those who are oppressed.
Proverbs 14:31 teaches that
being kind is a way of honouring God. When we help someone in need, we are
showing God’s love. Kindness, fairness, and mercy push back darkness and bring
hope to others.
God wants us to check our
hearts. Are we treating people the way He wants? Are we helping those who are
struggling? He calls us to be helpers, encouragers, and protectors of those who
are weak or forgotten.
Even when someone feels
oppressed, Psalm 103:6 reminds us that God is on their side. He sees, He cares,
and He will make things right.
REFLECTION QUESTIONS:
- •
Am I ignoring or hurting someone who needs
kindness or help?
- •
Does the way I treat others show honour to
God?
- •
What is one kind thing I can do this week for
someone who is struggling?
PRAYER: Lord, help us see
people who need love and kindness. Make our hearts soft and caring. Help us
treat everyone with respect. Use us to bring hope, justice, and mercy. Thank
You for being close to those who are hurting. Amen.
Shalom
