CHILD-FRIENDLY SPIRITUAL INHERITANCE!
Ephesians 1:11-14 GNT
All things are done
according to God's plan and decision; and God chose us to be his own people in
union with Christ because of his own purpose, based on what he had decided from
the very beginning. [12] Let us, then, who were the first to hope in Christ,
praise God's glory! [13] And you also became God's people when you heard the
true message, the Good News that brought you salvation. You believed in Christ,
and God put his stamp of ownership on you by giving you the Holy Spirit he had
promised. [14] The Spirit is the guarantee that we shall receive what God has
promised his people, and this assures us that God will give complete freedom to
those who are his. Let us praise his glory!
Inheritance is something you
receive because you belong to a family. For children of God, our inheritance is
not just things — God Himself is our greatest gift (Psalm 16:5–6).
The Bible teaches that when
we accept Jesus, we are taken out of darkness and brought into God’s light
(Colossians 1:13). This gives us a new identity as God’s children.
Because Jesus died and rose
again, we now have a spiritual inheritance — things God gives to His
children.
This includes being loved,
forgiven, chosen, blessed, and filled with His Spirit (Ephesians 1:3).
Galatians 3:29 says if we
belong to Christ, we are part of God’s family and receive His promises.
The biggest inheritance we
receive is eternal life with God (Matthew 25:34).
Just like parents leave
things for their children, God also gives both spiritual and physical blessings
to His own children (Proverbs 13:22).
Ephesians 2:6 teaches that
we are seated with Christ — meaning we share in His victory, power, and
authority.
Romans 8:17 says we are
heirs with Christ. That means we belong to God, and we share in what Jesus
gives.
To enjoy our spiritual
inheritance, we must grow, obey God, and live the way Jesus teaches us (Genesis
1:28).
Sometimes things in life are
meant to help us grow so we can handle what God gives us.
The prodigal son (Luke
15:11–35) received his inheritance too early and wasted it. He wasn’t ready.
But his father still loved him and welcomed him back. In the same way, God
always welcomes us when we return to Him. We cannot finish His blessings — His storehouse
never runs dry.
God wants us to live every
day in victory, obedience, and confidence because we are His children. That is
our spiritual inheritance.
REFLECTION QUESTIONS
· Am I
living in the blessings God has given me through Jesus?
· Which
parts of my life still need growth so I can handle God’s blessings well?
· Do I
remember that I am seated with Christ and have His victory?
PRAYER: Thank You, Lord, for
the spiritual inheritance I have in Christ Jesus. Help me to take care of what
You have given me and live in a way that honours You. Help me pass Your
blessings to others and to the next generation. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Shalom
