CHILD-FRIENDLY SUGAR LIPS, POISONOUS HEART!
Psalm 55:21 GNT
His words were smoother than
cream, but there was hatred in his heart; his words were as soothing as oil,
but they cut like sharp swords.
Some people talk very
nicely, but their hearts are not kind. Their words sound sweet, but what they
truly feel is not good. The Bible teaches us that words can sound soft like
sugar, but the heart behind them can be hurtful.
David talked about people
who speak gently but think evil inside. This is what we call “sugar lips,
poisonous heart.” Their smile looks friendly, but their actions show something
else.
Jesus also warned us about
this. The Pharisees talked like holy people, but their hearts were far from God
(Matthew 15:8). They looked good on the outside, but inside they were not
honest.
One big example is Judas. He
kissed Jesus, which is supposed to show love, but he used that kiss to betray
Him (Luke 22:48). It shows us that not everyone who acts nice really cares
about us.
God wants our hearts and our
words to match. He wants our hearts to be clean so our words can be true and
kind. When our hearts are right, our words will bring life and not harm.
Walking with integrity
means:
• Speaking kindly from a
good heart
• Not using words to trick
people
• Being honest even when
it’s hard
• Asking God to help our
hearts stay clean
REFLECTION QUESTIONS
•
Do my words match what is in my heart?
•
Have I believed someone just because they
spoke nicely?
•
What can I do daily to keep my heart honest
and close to God?
PRAYER: Lord, please make my
heart clean so my words are kind and true. Help me to see when someone’s words
are not honest. Teach me to speak with love and honesty. Make my heart and my
mouth work together to honour You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Shalom
