CHILD-FRIENDLY SUGAR‑COATED TONGUE!
2 Timothy 4:3-4 GNT
The time will come when people will not listen to sound
doctrine, but will follow their own desires and will collect for themselves
more and more teachers who will tell them what they are itching to hear. [4]
They will turn away from listening to the truth and give their attention to
legends.
The Bible warns that a time will come when people will
not want to hear the truth. They will only want messages that make them feel
good, not messages that help them grow.
Some people change God’s Word to make it sound nicer, the
same way sugar makes food sweet. But too much sugar is not healthy — and
changing God’s Word is not healthy for our hearts.
2 Corinthians 2:17 reminds us that God wants us to speak
His Word with honesty. We should not change it to make people happy.
Jesus never sugar‑coated
His message. He spoke the truth with love, even when it was hard to hear. The
truth helps people turn away from wrong and follow God.
When we only listen to easy messages, we stay weak. But
when we hear the real Word of God, we grow strong (1 Peter 2:2).
Today, many people want fun messages, exciting talks, and
sermons that make them feel comfortable. But God wants us to hear the truth,
even if it challenges us.
Jude 3 reminds us that the Bible will always matter. We
don’t need to use tricks to make it interesting. God’s Word is powerful all by
itself.
It’s better to tell someone the truth and help them
follow Jesus than to make them feel good and let them stay far from God.
REFLECTION QUESTIONS
· Do I
sometimes like messages that make me feel good instead of messages that help me
grow?
· How
can I tell when someone is teaching God’s truth?
· What
can I do to stand for the real gospel and not the sugar‑coated version?
PRAYER: Lord, help me to choose Your truth and not just
messages that sound nice. Teach me to listen to Your Word with a willing heart.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Shalom
