PIDGIN THE ARMOUR OF GOD!

Ephesians 6:10-20

“ Finally, make una dey strong with Christ mighty pawa. 11Make una wear komplete soja uniform wey God dey give, so dat una go fit stand fight di wayo wey devil dey use. 12Bikos, wi nor dey fight against human being, but na against di wiked rulers wey dey for dis world, against evil spirits and pawas wey dey di heavens. 13Na dis make mi sey, make una wear komplete soja uniform wey God dey give, so dat una go fit stand for groun wen trobol and wahala go kom and wen una don win, una go still stand well. 14So, make una stand well-well kon tie trut like belt round una waist, den wear bullet proof koat as raitiousness for una body. 15Make una wear shoe for leg wey go show sey, una dey ready to prish di Good News wey dey give pipol peace 16and with all dis, make una karry faith wey go help una kwensh all di wiked arrows wey Satan dey trow. 17Make una wear salvashon like priest kap for head kon whole di Spirit swod wey bi God word. 18With difren prayers, make una dey ask God to help una. Make una always dey pray with di Spirit and dey shine una eyes well-well. Make una nor give up, but make una kontinue to pray for all God pipol. 19Make una pray for mi too sey, make God give mi betta word anytime wen I open my mout to tok and make I fit esplain di sekret wey dey di gospel. 20I bi God messenja, even doh I dey for prison naw. But make una pray sey, I go dey tok with boldness as I suppose to tok.

 

Sometimes life dey be like battlefield — no be because of people, wahala, or emotion, but because Bible talk am plainly say we no dey fight flesh and blood. Apostle Paul open curtain show us wetin dey happen for spirit behind all our struggles. We dey war, but we no dey naked. God don give us armour — divine, spiritual, protective and powerful. When we wear our armour, Psalm 18:29 say by God we fit run through troop, and by our God we fit jump wall. 

This armour no be ordinary talk. Na real spiritual equipment for real battle. E no be option. E dey necessary. And e no dey passive — we must put am on by ourselves. 

Each part of the armour get im own work. 

The Belt of Truth: Paul start with truth because na truth every other thing rest upon. Ephesians 6:14 say, “Make una stand gidigba, wear the belt of truth for una waist.” 

For Roman soldier armour, the belt na wetin hold everything together. Without belt, the soldier go lose him weapons and cloth go scatter. Imagine say you wear trouser wey big for you without belt — everything go fall down! In same way, God wan make we wear belt of truth, so that we go fit hold up His Word for this wicked and deceptive world. Truth dey make believer stable. God’s truth dey keep us from lies, confusion, and shakings. 

Jesus talk for John 8:32 say, “You go know the truth, and the truth go set you free.” 

Truth no be just information; na to align with God Word. When devil dey whisper him lies, na truth go anchor you. 

The Breastplate of Righteousness: This one protect the main organ — the heart. The righteousness no be self‑righteousness. Na Christ righteousness wey cover us according to 2 Corinthians 5:21. E guard our heart against guilt, shame, false accusation and condemnation. When devil remind you who you been be before, righteousness go remind you who you be now for Christ. 

Shoes of the Gospel of Peace: You sabi say person no fit waka barefoot make e no dirty or wound him leg. That’s why we need shoes. Roman soldiers dey wear sandals wey get nails under for better grip and movement. Peace na wetin give us steady footing. Peace stop us from slipping or fear. Peace make us move forward with boldness. 

Jesus tell us for John 14:27 say Him don give us Him own peace. This peace no mean say trouble no go come; e mean say Christ dey with us inside the wahala. 

The Shield of Faith: “Take up the shield of faith, wey you go use take quench all the flaming arrows of the wicked.” Faith no be just belief wey dey quiet; e be active trust. E be shield wey stop the enemy arrow — fear, doubt, discouragement, and intimidation. 

When Goliath roar, David lift up the shield of faith. 

When storm rise, Jesus ask, “Where your faith dey?” Faith no dey deny wetin you see, but e dey declare say God get authority over everything. 

The Helmet of Salvation: Head na where reasoning dey, so you need protection there too. The helmet dey protect your mind. Salvation no be only past event — e still dey happen now. E guard your thoughts, identity, and perspective. Devil go always try attack your mind. He go whisper lies like: “You never save… God no love you… you no good enough.” But salvation dey shout back: You be redeemed. You dey secure. You belong to God. 

The Sword of the Spirit — The Word of God: You no fit go battlefield without weapon. God give us one — the Sword of the Spirit, wey be the Word of God. This one na the only weapon wey attack the enemy direct. Jesus use am for wilderness when He say “It is written…” (Matthew 4:4–10). The Word cut lie, break stronghold, and push darkness commot. Believer wey no dey use Word be like soldier without weapon. But believer wey speak the Word — na unstoppable warrior. 

Prayer - Paul end the talk with prayer: “Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit” (verse 18). Prayer no be just one piece of the armour — na the air wey armour dey breathe inside. Without prayer, the armour go dry, e no go activate. 

Prayer release power. Prayer strengthen the armour. Prayer keep you alert and awake. 

REFLECTION QUESTIONS

·        Which part of the armour I need to strengthen or purposefully “put on” for this season? 

·        Which lies, false accusation or attack I don dey face, and which truth from God Word go counter am? 

·        How I fit build prayer life wey go keep my armour active and my spirit alert? 

PRAYER: Lord, thank You say You don give me Your armour. Help me stand firm for truth, waka inside peace, lift up shield of faith, guard my mind with salvation, and use Your Word with boldness. Strengthen me through prayer and make me winner for every spiritual battle in Jesus name. Amen.
