PIDGIN OBEY MY VOICE!

Jeremaya 7:21–26

Make una live una life as I tell una and evritin go betta for una.’ 24But dem nor gri listin or hear mi. Dem dey do wetin dia sturbon and wiked heart sey make dem do. Instead make dem dey betta, dem kon worse pass as dem bi before. 25Since una grand-grand papa kom out from Egypt kon rish naw, I dey always send my savants, di profets kom meet una. 26But nobody among una dey listin or hear dem. Instead, una sturbon and wiked pass una grand-grand papa.”

 

John 10:27 remind us say we be the sheep wey dey hear and follow the Master voice. The question be this: we really dey hear am—and dey obey am? God voice full everywhere for Scripture, yet many believers still dey struggle to recognize or respond to am. Obedience no be option for Christian life; na foundation. Leviticus 8:4 show am clear—make we obey God simply because He be God. That one don do.

Obedience mean to submit or yield to authority. E mean to do wetin person wey get power over you talk make you do. The words for obedience for Hebrew and Greek both mean “to hear a superior authority.” 

God na the superior authority for everything, and e get supreme power. Him voice fit calm like small breeze like for 1 Kings 19:12–13, but e still loud pass every other voice.

To obey God voice no be suggestion; na command. Isaiah 1:19 promise say if we obey Him, we go chop the good of the land. Obedience na key wey open victorious life.

But make we ask: we dey obey God through Him Word or only through Him servants? Many Christians quick to obey their pastors or leaders but go argue with God simple instruction. Jesus say make we carry our cross everyday (Matthew 16:24), and that one mean daily obedience. Obedience no be something of mood or convenience; na lifestyle. For Jeremiah 7:23, God talk plain say, “Obey My voice.” E no ask Israel for sacrifice, e ask for obedience. When we waka in righteousness, God go own us as Him people, and we go experience Him as our God—not just talk am with mouth.

Obedience na duty. Jesus show obedience to the Father even unto death (Philippians 2:8). We too suppose submit to God command fully. To obey God mean to comply completely with everything wey He talk. You no fit grow spiritually if you no dey obey God. Like Balaam for Numbers 23:12, we suppose talk only wetin God put for our mouth. When we obey God by keeping and following His Word, He go keep us. As Joshua 1:8 talk, when we obey His Word, He go make our way prosper.

Isaiah 30:21 assure us say as we dey walk right, we go hear God voice guide us. E voice no dey always loud, but Him leading dey real and clear. Yet many of us still dey choose which area of our life we go surrender and which one we go hold back. We obey God for some things and ignore am for others—especially when Him instruction touch our comfort or plans.

Some believers go even choose to obey human voice over God own, especially when matter serious. But Deuteronomy 26:16 tell us say make we obey all God command with all our heart and soul. 

Peter and John for Acts 4:19 bin dey warned make dem no speak again for Jesus name. Even with threat of prison and death, dem still choose to obey God rather than man. Today, we too dey face the same kind pressure—big or small—to follow world wisdom instead of God instruction. But the question still be: e right to obey man against the will of God? When God say make you talk, you fit keep quiet?

God na the highest authority. He desire make we be Him special people—but only if we obey Him voice fully as Exodus 19:5 talk am. 

The matter still remain: you go obey Him voice?

REFLECTION QUESTIONS 

– I fit recognise the Lord voice well enough to obey am steadyly, or I dey always find excuse for disobedience? 

– How I dey intentionally dey listen and obey God voice for my daily life? 

– I dey willing to obey God even when e instruction hard or inconvenient?

PRAYER: Lord, help me make I dey hear Your voice clear and obey You quick, complete, and with joy—no matter wetin You tell me. In Jesus name, Amen.
