PIDGIN OPPRESSION!
Proverbs 14:31 “ Doz wey dey opress poor pipol, dey kause God wey kreate dem, but to help poor pipol, na to honor God.
Oppression no be just
wickedness or cruelty; e dey break spiritual law. To oppress another
person—especially the poor, the weak, or those wey no fit defend themselves—na
to disrespect the God wey create dem. God no dey take oppression play, because
every human being carry Him own image inside.
Oppression fit show for many
ways. E fit loud and violent, like injustice, abuse, or exploitation. But e fit
quiet too—like when person no talk against bad thing, or when we fit help but
choose to hold hand, or when we dey look down on people wey we think say no
important. All these ones still mean the same thing: “Your life no get value.”
But God no agree. Na the poor and weak God dey fight for. He dey hear the cry
of people wey dey suffer.
All through Bible, God
always stand with people wey dey oppressed. He deliver Israel from Egypt
because their cry reach His throne as we see for Exodus 3:7–8:
“I don see the suffer wey My
people dey suffer for Egypt... and I don come down to rescue dem.” The
Israelites dey suffer for Pharaoh hand—force labour, beating, and wicked life.
God hear their cry, deliver dem, and show say He no dey ever support oppression.
He dey rebuke kings wey
crush the poor. He send prophets to challenge systems wey dey use the weak.
Even Jesus, when He come this world, no stay silent. He bring respect to people
wey world don forget, and comfort to people wey heart don break. God no dey
ever stand neutral where oppression dey—and He no go ever be.
Proverbs 14:31 remind us say
kindness no be just good behaviour; na true worship. When we show mercy to
people wey need am, we dey honour God. To help the poor no be charity—na
partnership with God Himself. He dey call us to show His character through mercy,
fairness, and respect for everybody we meet.
Oppression dey grow where
love don cold, where power dey misuse, and where people forget say God dey
watch. But kindness dey shine light wey fit break oppression’s chain. Gentle
word fit bring hope again. Small help fit lift person up. Courage fit challenge
injustice. When we choose compassion, we become the hand and voice of God for
this broken world.
As believers, we suppose
check our heart: We dey ignore people wey God call precious? We dey inside
systems wey dey make the weak suffer? We dey hard-hearted in the name of “na so
we dey do am”? God dey call us higher. He want make we be defenders, encouragers,
helpers, and intercessors. Make we stand where He dey stand—with the oppressed,
forgotten, poor, and tired, as Psalm 119:134 talk am.
When we honour people wey
dey need help, we dey honour God. And when we despise dem, we disrespect Him.
The meaning of that verse clear well well—no confusion inside.
For this world wey full with
inequality and pain, the Church gatz rise shine as light of justice and mercy.
God no call us make we just siddon dey look oppression—He call us make we stand
against am. We go stand with prayer, kindness, boldness, generosity, and truth.
Every small act of kindness push darkness back. Every sign of love show the
heart of the Father.
No matter the kind
oppression person face, Psalm 103:6 assure us say God dey our side. And
according to Romans 12:19, He go avenge the oppressed—make we leave am for Him
hand.
