PIDGIN REAR‑VIEW MIRROR SYNDROME!
Isaiah 43:18‑19 “But God sey, “Make una nor tink about wetin dey happen or put una mind for wetin don happen before. 19 But naw, I go do new tin; e go happen and una go si am! I go make road for di wildaness kon give una plenty wota for der.
One big problem wey dey hold
plenty people down be wetin I fit call rear‑view
mirror syndrome—to
dey live life dey look back every time. Na habit of always visiting yesterday,
dey replay old memories, dey remember past mistakes or dey dream of “those good old days.” Many people don park their
mind for the rear‑view
mirror of old experience, so dem no fit see wetin God dey do now.
To dey look back no ever
help person move forward. When all your strength don go for analyzing wetin for
happen, wetin suppose happen, or “if only,” you go just dey go round circle wey
God no plan for you. Jeremiah 29:11 tell us say God get
better plan for our life, but Him plan dey front, our eyes too suppose face
front.
People no dey fail because
dem no get potential; dem fail because dem no obey God word. Dem choose to live
for the past. Yesterday fit teach us lesson, but e no be tomorrow ticket. Bible
say, “Forget the former things… behold, I dey do new thing!” God no fit do new
thing for heart wey still chain to old season.
Rear‑view mirror dey useful when
person wan reverse, but nobody fit drive forward if e dey look mirror steady.
The same way, you no fit reach your destiny if your focus still dey behind. Philippians 3:13
show say “forgetting” no mean say you get
amnesia, e mean say you no go allow past to control your future.
Jesus talk clear for Luke 9:62:
any person wey hold plough and still dey look back no fit do kingdom work well.
Plough dey move straight only when farmer eye dey front. Once e look back, line
go bend. To look back na to go back.
Lot wife be strong lesson.
God dey pull her enter new future, but her heart still tie for past. That one
backward look cost her everything. She turn to statue—monument instead of
movement—freeze inside yesterday, no fit enter tomorrow.
When Israel reach front of
Red Sea and fear catch them because Pharaoh dey come, God tell Moses for Exodus 14:15:
“Tell dem make dem move
forward.” No be sideways, no be
backward—forward! God no dey lead Him
children go back; Him glory always dey front.
The Bible na our spiritual
compass. E go show whether we dey move ahead or we dey fall back. Who choose to
live for rear‑view
mirror go definitely go backward. God call us to advance, no to retreat.
To forget past mean say you
go refuse make old event dey influence your new decision. Many people talk say
dem don move on, but dem still carry the old emotion, grudges, and pain. Dem
say dem forgive, but their reaction still show wound. Dem claim say dem heal,
but one little trigger go still open the scar. If you hold the past, your eye
go still dey there. Anything wey you look sef too long—na there your life go
begin go.
God still get plenty
beautiful and miraculous plan for you—but e dey front, no be back. If you fix
eye for past, you go miss the new opportunity wey dey your front. Worse, you
fit jam the blessing wey God prepare because your attention no dey where e suppose
dey.
God put your eye for front
for reason—your destiny dey front. Isaiah 52:12
talk say God go before you and still be your rear‑guard. He go take care of your past; make you
face your future.
Many people dey confuse who
dem be before with who dem be now. That mindset dey limit destiny. Yes, your
past shape you, but e no fit define you. Moses kill person before, yet God make
am deliverer. Rahab do ashawo before, yet God put her inside Jesus family line.
Peter deny Jesus before, yet God make am pillar for early church. Paul fight
Christians before, yet God use am write Scripture. God sabi rewrite story—if
only you stop to dey look back.
If God fit make way for
wilderness and river for desert, He fit make way for you too. But remember—Him
way always dey for front, no be behind. Stop to look the rear‑view mirror; e only lead
backwards.
REFLECTION QUESTIONS
