Isaiah 38:1–8

4So God kommand Profet Isaya sey, 5“Go back go meet King Hezekaya kon tell am, ‘Mi wey bi yor papa David God don hear yor prayer and si yor tears; so I go let yu stay for anoda fifteen years. 6I go save yu and Jerusalem pipol from Assyria king and I go kontinue to protet di town.’

7“And dis go bi sign to show sey God go do wetin E promise. 8For di place wey Ahaz build, God go make di sun shadow go back ten times.” So di shadow kon go back ten times.

 

Reset na to set something again, to return am to neutral position. E mean to change how something dey react or restore am back to the original state—to start again like say  e no get history.

Hezekiah cry give God after dem tell am say he go die. With humble heart, he fall on God mercy for healing, submit to God values, and ask God make Him meet him need. God hear am and reset him life and destiny.

Reset dey show God grace and power because na God dey control destiny. Everything dey His hand, and He dey respond to our needs as He remain faithful to His covenant.

Even though Hezekiah base him request for healing on God faithfulness, na God grace and mercy still make am heal Hezekiah and give am reset.

God show this reset through the sundial! 

The miracle wey happen for the sundial prove say God na God—na only Him get power to adjust and redirect nature.

God fit reset our destinies by shifting things ten steps backward, just like He do for Hezekiah sundial.

Hezekiah sundial no fit move backward naturally. That kain thing no dey possible except person manually turn am or use industrial magnetic mechanism. Hezekiah sabi this, na why he ask God to do something wey no dey possible naturally—to prove say God faithful.

Plenty of us dey face different scary situations wey fit make person question God authority and power. But Matthew 19:26 remind us say God dey specialize for impossible things.

E fit even be say the sundial stop because e rust from lack of sun exposure. Na so many people—even believers—don stuck for life, marriage, and different situations because dem no dey expose themselves to the light and Word of God according to Psalm 119:105. When we no allow God light enter our life and His Word direct us, we go dey stuck like rusty dial, no fit move smoothly and graciously through life. Hezekiah see chance ask God for reset—we too fit do the same.

Joshua too get reset—not only for him life but for the whole tribe of Israel for Joshua 10—when he ask the God of impossible make He suspend the natural working of the sun and moon, give dem chance to change the direction of the battle in their favour.

Hezekiah no even ask for anything specific—not even healing. He just ask God make He remember how he don walk faithfully with Him. And God, wey dey see the thoughts and intents of our hearts according to Hebrews 4:13, see him heart and offer am reset.

The Lord reset the sundial by moving am ten degrees backward. Times and seasons dey God hand, and to move something ten times backward or forward no be problem for Him. God fit move you from zero to infinity inside twinkle of eye.

God don dey use the number ten from the very beginning to show completion and perfection of His laws, principles, and order. For example:

- For Genesis 1, God talk “said” ten times. 

- He give the Ten Commandments to reset Israel judicial system for Exodus 20. 

- He give us the law of tithing (ten percent) for Deuteronomy 14:22–24. 

- The Passover lamb dey selected on the tenth day of the first month to reset Passover for Exodus 12:3, and the tenth day of the seventh month for atonement.

God fit reset that situation, and He don already get reset plan for you—if you go ask.

REFLECTION QUESTIONS

·       Which area of my life don turn “rusty dial,” lack God Word light, and how I fit intentionally align myself back with His truth and guidance? 

·       Like Hezekiah, which area of my life need bold request for God mercy and supernatural reset—and I ready bring am before God with humility and faith? 

·       Which impossible situation I dey trust God to reverse like Hezekiah sundial?

PRAYER: Lord, abeg reset my life by Your mercy. Restore wetin don break, realign my steps, and let Your light guide me enter the path wey You don prepare for me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
