CHILD-FRIENDLY THE COLLATERAL DAMAGE OF SIN!

Romans 5:12 GNT

Sin came into the world through one man, and his sin brought death with it. As a result, death has spread to the whole human race because everyone has sinned.

 

When we talk about collateral damage, it means people getting hurt because of someone else’s mistake. The Bible shows us that sin works the same way. Our choices don’t only affect us—they can affect others too.

Achan disobeyed God in Joshua 7, and the whole nation lost a battle. One person sinned, but many people suffered.

King David chose wrongly in 2 Samuel 24, and many people were hurt because of his decision. David realized, “I sinned, but the people are suffering.”

Sin can even affect families. Abram and Sarai made a bad choice in Genesis 16, and it caused years of trouble. Eli didn’t correct his sons in 1 Samuel 2–4, and their whole family faced pain.

The biggest example is Adam. His sin brought pain into the whole world. But the good news is this: Jesus brings even more grace than the damage sin brings!

God can turn harm into blessing—just like He did with Joseph. Others hurt him, but God used it for good.

So today, God teaches us: our choices matter. We can stop saying, “It only affects me.” With God’s help, we can break bad patterns and become a blessing to others.

REFLECTION QUESTIONS

·       Are my choices hurting others without me noticing?

·       Are there bad patterns God wants me to break?

·       How has God helped me when someone else’s choices hurt me?

PRAYER: Lord, forgive me for any choices that hurt others. Help me make good decisions, bring peace, and be a blessing. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
