CHILD-FRIENDLY CUSTOMISED TEMPTATION!

1 Corinthians 10:13 GNT

Every test that you have experienced is the kind that normally comes to people. But God keeps his promise, and he will not allow you to be tested beyond your power to remain firm; at the time you are put to the test, he will give you the strength to endure it, and so provide you with a way out.

Temptation is when we feel like doing something we know is wrong. It may look fun or exciting, but it does not help us. Temptation has been around since the beginning, starting in Genesis 3 when the serpent tricked Eve.

Temptation itself is not a sin. The sin happens when we choose to obey it. The devil often uses things we already like or want—this is called customised temptation. He knows what will catch our attention, just like he used the fruit to tempt Eve.

The Bible tells us to guard our hearts (Proverbs 4:23) because our hearts are where we think, feel, and make choices. If we don’t protect our hearts, temptation can enter easily.

Everyone faces temptation, but not everyone gives in. Some people stay alert (1 Peter 5:8), and others run away from it (James 4:7). That is how Joseph escaped the wrong choice in Genesis 39—he ran!

We cannot overcome temptation by our own strength. We need the Word of God and the Holy Spirit. Even Jesus was tempted (Matthew 4:1–11), but He defeated the devil by speaking God’s Word.

Sometimes temptation comes from the devil, and sometimes it comes from our own wrong desires (James 1:13–14). The enemy uses what we already want to try to pull us away from God. But God always gives us a way out (1 Corinthians 10:13).

So, remember: Don’t play with temptation. Don’t stay near it. RUN from it!
