CHILD-FRIENDLY DRESSED FOR HELL!

Matthew 22:14-15 GNT

And Jesus concluded, "Many are invited, but few are chosen." [15] The Pharisees went off and made a plan to trap Jesus with questions.

 

Jesus told a story about a king who threw a big wedding party. One man came without the right clothes. He wanted the party, but he didn’t want to respect the king. This teaches us that what we “wear” in our hearts matters to God.

Some people wear “heart‑clothes” that lead them away from God. These are not real clothes—you can’t see them—but God can. Here are some of them:

Pride: Pride says, “I don’t need God.” It’s the same attitude that caused Lucifer to fall. Pride refuses help or correction. The Bible says God opposes the proud.

Unforgiveness. When we don’t forgive others, our hearts become heavy and sad. Jesus said if we don’t forgive, God won’t forgive us. Unforgiveness makes our hearts dark.

Hypocrisy. This means pretending to be good on the outside but not obeying God on the inside. Jesus said people like this are like “clean tombs”—nice outside, but dead inside.

Compromise. This happens when we try to follow God and do things we know are wrong. Even small choices can pull our hearts away from God.

Rebellion. Rebellion is telling God, “I want my way, not Yours.” Saul lost his kingdom because he rebelled. Rebellion leads us away from God’s plan.

But here is the good news: God offers us better clothes! 

He gives us the robe of righteousness—a clean heart—through Jesus. We don’t earn it; we receive it. When we “put on Christ,” our thoughts and actions start to look like Him.

REFLECTION QUESTIONS

·       Which wrong “heart‑clothes” do I sometimes wear—pride, unforgiveness, hypocrisy, compromise, or rebellion?

·       How can I choose to “put on Jesus” this week in the way I think and act?

·       Who around me needs to see God’s love and kindness in my life?

PRAYER: Lord, take away anything in my heart that does not please You—pride, unforgiveness, hypocrisy, compromise, and rebellion. Dress me with the righteousness of Jesus. Help me to live in a way that shows Your love and holiness. Keep me close to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
