CHILD-FRIENDLY HUMBLED AND LIFTED!

James 4:10 GNT

Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.

 

Humility means choosing to be gentle, teachable, and willing to let God lead. It is not weakness—humility is the attitude that makes space for God’s power. James 4:10 says, “Humble yourselves before the Lord, and He will lift you up.” When we choose humility, God chooses to lift us.

The Bible shows that God stays close to those who are humble. Psalm 34:18 says He is near the broken-hearted. Jesus also said, “Whoever humbles himself will be exalted.” God loves a humble heart.

Humility means trusting God more than ourselves. It means letting go of pride, listening before speaking, and choosing obedience even when it is hard. When we humble ourselves, God sees it and honours it.

Hannah showed humility when she prayed with a sincere heart, and God blessed her (1 Samuel 1). Joseph stayed humble even when life was unfair, and God lifted him from prison to a palace (Genesis 41). Jesus is the greatest example—He humbled Himself, and God highly exalted Him (Philippians 2:9).

Humility in everyday life looks like: 

• Apologising when you’re wrong 

• Letting someone else go first 

• Asking God for help 

• Not trying to always be right 

• Listening more and bragging less

Psalm 75:6–7 teaches that all lifting comes from God. When God lifts you, no one can stop it. His lifting brings peace, favour, and blessings we cannot earn ourselves.

REFLECTION QUESTIONS

·       Where do I need to trust God and let go of control?

·       Is there someone I need to apologise to or listen to better?

·       How has God lifted me before?

PRAYER: Father, help me be humble. Remove pride from my heart and teach me to trust You more. Lift me in Your way and in Your time. Amen.
