CHILD-FRIENDLY VANITY FAIR!

Ecclesiastes 1:2 Voice

Teacher: Life is fleeting, like a passing mist. It is like trying to catch hold of a breath; All vanishes like a vapor; everything is a great vanity.

Have you ever gone to a funfair? It’s full of lights, music, games, and sweet treats. It’s exciting—and hard to leave! But after all the fun, you sometimes feel tired, sick, or sad because you spent too much money on things that didn’t last.

The Bible says, “Vanity of vanities… all is vanity.” This means some things in life look fun, but they don’t give us anything that lasts. They make us happy for a little while, but the joy quickly fades—just like the fair.

Many things in the world are like that. They seem exciting, but they don’t help us grow or draw us closer to God. Without Jesus, life can feel empty, confusing, and meaningless. Only God gives true joy that stays.

Today, people often enjoy things that are not good for their hearts or minds. Some even celebrate things that God says are wrong. I once saw a restaurant named “7 Sins,” where the food was named after sins like pride, anger, and greed. This shows how easily people get comfortable with wrong things.

The world often gives fancy names to bad choices—words like poison, toxic, or guilty pleasure. These things can slowly make us accept what God does not want for us. That’s why the Bible tells us in Romans 12:2 to renew our minds and not copy the world.

Everything the world offers is temporary—like the fair. It looks fun but doesn’t last. But when we choose Jesus, our life becomes meaningful, joyful, and full of purpose.

Only Jesus can give us true life and lasting peace.

REFLECTION QUESTIONS

·       Have I let fun or shiny things distract me from God?

·       What things seem exciting but leave me feeling empty afterward?

·       How can I choose what is good and meaningful every day?

PRAYER: Dear Lord, help me pay attention to the things around me. Take away anything that leads to emptiness. Help me live with purpose and follow You every day. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Shalom.
