PIDGIN BENT OVER BUT NOT BROKEN!
Luke 13:10–17 “Wen Jesus dey tish for one sinagog for Sabat Day, 11one woman wey evil spirit bend en body for eighteen years dey der. 12Wen Jesus si am, e koll di woman kon tell am, “Woman, yu don free from yor trobol.” 13Jesus tosh di woman and at wons, en body kon strait and e start to praiz God.
14But di oga for di sinagog
vex sey Jesus heal pesin for Sabat Day, so e kon tell di pipol, “Wi get six
days wen pipol suppose work, so make una kom make dem heal una for doz six
days, but nor bi for Sabat Day.”
15Den Jesus ansa am, “Yu wey
dey pritend! Una nor dey luz una melu or donkey from rope go drink wota for
Sabat Day? 16So make I nor free dis woman wey bi Abraham pikin, wey dey Satan
prison for eighteen years, bikos today na Sabat Day?”
17Wen Jesus tok dis tin,
shame katch all en enemies, so di pipol kon dey happy, bikos of wetin Jesus dey
do.
One quiet Sabbath morning,
as Jesus dey teach for synagogue, one woman waka enter, wey don dey suffering
for eighteen years. She bend, and no fit straighten at all. She carry one kind
weight wey touch her physical body, emotions, spirit, and relationship with
people. Luke talk say na “spirit of infirmity” hold am, meaning say her battle
pass body matter—e enter every area of her life. She dey live for posture of
limitation, dey see the ground instead of sky, dust instead of destiny. But
before she talk anything, before she ask for help, before she even stretch hand
reach Jesus, Jesus see her. E call her come Him side, show say God dey notice
people wey bend—di weary ones, overlooked ones, people wey don learn to
function inside pain. E still dey talk to those wey don stop to expect
change.
Jesus declare, “Woman, your
infirmity don loose,” then He lay hand on her. Sharp‑sharp, she straighten and
begin praise God. Wetin eighteen years of suffering don twist, one encounter
with Jesus restore. But di miracle vex synagogue leader, because Jesus heal on
Sabbath. Religion vex because of mercy. Dem value rule pass restoration. Jesus
answer dem with boldness, remind dem say dis woman na “daughter of Abraham”—person wey get covenant
right to freedom. She no be problem or disturbance—she be beloved daughter wey
suppose to dey lifted.
Throughout Bible, God consistently
lift people wey bow down. Hannah bend under barrenness until God remember her.
David bend under guilt until God forgive am. The woman with issue of blood bend
under twelve years of suffering until she touch Jesus. Prodigal son bend under
shame until him papa hug am. God heart never change—Psalm 145:14 say He still
dey lift people wey don bow down.
Many of us sabi wetin e mean
to dey bent—no be physically, but emotionally or spiritually. Life fit bend
pesin under grief, pressure, disappointment, responsibility, silent battle, or
shame. Like dis woman, we fit learn to function even when we bend. We adapt. We
survive. But Jesus no come just so we go survive—He come make we fit stand
tall.
He dey see wetin others
overlook. People for synagogue don see dis woman for years, but nobody help am.
Jesus see her differently, same way He dey see your hidden pain and silent
prayers. He dey call you before you call am. Di woman no even ask for healing;
na Jesus start di miracle. Grace always move first. He dey speak freedom before
you feel am, dey declare Him word over your life before evidence show. He dey
touch wetin life don twist—Him presence dey bring alignment, healing, and
restoration. And He dey defend your deliverance, dey silence every accusing
voice. Lastly, Him restore identity before function. Before she waka in
freedom, Him first call her “daughter.” God always remind you who you be before
He show you wetin you fit do.
Even when life bend us low,
story no end there. Many times, God dey use these seasons build deeper trust,
sharper vision, and unshakable faith. Di woman healing remind us say delay no
be denial—every year wey she endure turn to testimony of God perfect timing.
Same way, your bent seasons fit become place where God glory go break out.
Wetin look like limitation fit turn to launching pad, and wetin resemble
setback fit position you for deeper revelation of Him power and love.
You fit feel bent over
today, but for Christ, you no broke. Him voice still dey call, Him hand still
dey heal, and Him truth still dey lift.
