Temptation na that inside pull or desire to do sometin wey wrong, no wise, or go later harm us. Many times e dey look attractive, but e no dey ever help us spiritually. Temptation don dey from beginning of humanity. For Genesis 3, we see first example when serpent wisely approach Eve, use sweet talk and fine argument carry her commot from God command. By definition, temptation na push toward evil—many times e dey come through flattery, deception, or offer of sometin wey look good but go end for destruction. 

According to Romans 1:20, God don write Him moral law for every human being heart. So when temptation show, conscience dey quickly raise alarm. Temptation itself no be sin; e turn to sin when we begin entertain am, play with am, or act on top am. This difference important for every believer. 

Enemy dey design temptation wey match each person specially. Wetin him use for Eve no be random; na exactly wetin match her reasoning and desire that time. In that same way, Satan dey study human weakness and dey package temptation in style wey go look attractive, familiar, and hard to resist. Na why overconfidence dangerous. When believers begin relax, depend on themselves, or take prayer and holiness casual, dem dey open body as easy target. 

Proverbs 4:23 tell us make we guide our heart well, because heart na centre of our thoughts, emotions, and decisions. Temptation dey start for heart before e show as action outside. Everybody dey tempted, but no be everybody dey fall. Some people dey overcome because dem remain spiritually alert as 1 Peter 5:8 talk, and others dey resist and even run, like James 4:7 command. 

True power to overcome temptation dey come through Word of God and help of Holy Spirit—no be through human strength and discipline alone. Even Jesus Christ, our perfect example, face temptation for Mark 1:13 and Luke 4:1–13. Hebrews 4:15 talk say Him tempted in every way but no sin. Him defeat enemy by declaring Scripture, show us say Bible na our strongest weapon when temptation show. 

Temptation only turn to sin when we no handle am well. Customised temptation na one wey dem design to fit your specific interests, desires, weaknesses, or areas wey you never guard. Satan no go tempt you with wetin you no like; e go use wetin your heart already dey lean toward. James 1:13–14 explain say God no dey tempt anybody. Instead, “each person dey tempted when him own desire drag am and entice am.” Meaning say Satan dey work through di desires wey already dey human heart. If desire no dey there, temptation go weak—just like Joseph wey resist and run from Potiphar wife for Genesis 39:6–12. 

We dey open door for temptation when we begin do spiritual carelessness—ignore Holy Spirit warning, neglect time with God, get used to sinful environment, or keep exposing ourselves to things wey dey weaken us. Once door open, enemy dey quickly suggest say him way go make us happier, complete, or satisfied. Pastor John Piper talk am well: “The power of all temptation is the prospect that it will make us happier.” 

Because Bible call Satan “god of this world” for 2 Corinthians 4:4 and “father of lies” for John 8:44, every temptation source trace back to am. But our own human nature—flesh—fit easily join hand with him strategy. Sometimes, we no even need satan direct push before we drift enter sinful thought; our own desire don already carry us. 

Na why believer must stay awake spiritually. Temptation no be thing to play with. If we no guard heart, renew mind, and use Word of God, we fit easily shift. But through Christ, victory sure. God assure us for 1 Corinthians 10:13 say no temptation be special or too much; Him always provide way of escape. 

So, run from temptation. Resist am. No negotiate with am. Run from every appearance of evil. And depend on Holy Spirit every day.

PRAYER: Lord, help me make I no fall into temptation. Deliver me from every evil plan of enemy and strengthen me to stand strong inside Your Word, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
