PIDGIN GIVE WITHOUT AUDIENCE!

Matiu 6:3–4 “But wen una dey give, make una nor let una left hand know wetin una rite hand give. 4So dat una gift, go dey sekret and una Papa wey dey si for sekret, go reward una.”

 

Giving na one of the strongest way to show love for God kingdom. But Jesus teach say the way we give important reach the giving itself. E command us say as we dey give to people wey need help, make nobody know, even our left hand no suppose know wetin our right hand dey do, our giving suppose dey secret. But today, giving don turn show, competition and drama – everybody wan make dem dey seen dem. Camera ready, selfie stick dey, people wey go clap and hail don gather. 

Jesus no dey condemn public giving; na the motive behind am Him dey address. Earlier for that chapter, Him warn make we no give “to be honoured by others” for verse 2. The problem no be say people see you, na why you want make dem see you. God dey look heart, and Him want make our giving flow from love, compassion and obedience – not from the hunger to collect praise. 

To give for secret no mean say you dey hide for fear, e mean say your heart clean. Na to build heart wey care more about how God see am than how people see am. When we give without audience, we shift the light from ourselves go God. We agree say every good thing we get na from God, as James 1:17 talk, and we dey return am back to Am without demanding any credit. 

This kind giving dey form us. E train our heart to humble, free from pride and to resist that small temptation to use generosity build our name. E dey teach us to trust say God dey see, even when nobody notice. 

One of the most beautiful example of hidden giving na the story of the widow offering for Mark 12:41–44. She drop two small coins – amount wey most people no go even rate. But Jesus notice. Him see her heart, her sacrifice and her devotion. Her giving no loud, but e sincere. She give without audience, and heaven write am down. Today, people no only get audience for their giving, dem even dey announce how much dem give. 

Another example dey for Acts 9:36–39, where we meet Tabitha (Dorcas). She dey known for her kindness and charity, especially to widows. She no dey give to collect praise; she dey give because compassion dey live inside her. Her generosity real reach say when she die, the widows gather around Peter dey cry, dey show the cloth wey she sew for dem. Her quiet giving leave loud legacy. 

Even Jesus Himself show us this principle. All through the Gospels, He go heal people then tell dem make dem no tell anybody. He no dey chase fame; He dey do the Father will. Him life teach us say true greatness many times dey hidden, and true generosity no need audience. 

Hidden giving still dey happen today. E fit be person wey quietly pay another person food for shop. E fit be neighbour wey drop bag of food for door of family wey dey struggle. E fit be believer wey dey support missionary, single mother or student quietly without ever mention am. E fit be friend wey dey pray, encourage and give time, strength and love without expecting anything back. 

This kind act no go ever enter news, but heaven dey rejoice. Dem reflect the heart of the Father, wey Himself dey give generously and many times silently. He send rain on both righteous and unrighteous as Matthew 5:45 talk. He dey sustain us every day in ways we no dey even notice. He be God wey dey give without audience. 

Jesus promise say the Father wey dey see in secret go reward us. The reward no always be money or material thing. Many times, na the reward of becoming more like Christ. Na the joy of knowing say we obey God. Na the peace wey dey come from giving without any string attached. Na that quiet satisfaction say we don partner with God for Him work for this earth. 

When we give without audience, we dey enter deeper intimacy with God. We dey give for His eyes alone, and that kind walk dey change our heart. 

REFLECTION QUESTIONS 

·       Wetin be the real motive behind my giving – love for God or desire to be noticed? 

·       Where God dey invite me now to give quietly, without drawing attention to myself? 

·       How I fit build lifestyle of hidden generosity wey truly reflect the heart of Jesus? 

PRAYER: Father, purify my motives and teach me to give with hidden heart. Free me from desire to be seen or praised. Make my generosity be pure worship to You alone. Help me to give in secret, trusting say You see, You know and You reward. Amen.
