As we look the nations for this world and how people dey live today, e fit easy to think say the correct standard wey God set before don old or no dey work again. But the question be: Godly standards and values fit ever old? For Luke 6:45, Jesus make us understand say wetin dey inside person heart na im go show for e action. As we dey behave every day, na so we dey show wetin we really believe. 

Now ask yourself—whose standard you dey follow? Your own, society, or God own? 

You dey show godly character and behaviour for your daily life? 

God own standard no be the same as the world own, and every Christian suppose sabi that. For John 15:18–20, Jesus talk say even though we dey for this world, we no belong to am. For Leviticus 11:44, God talk say, “Make una holy because I be holy.” But when we look around, we dey see say many people, even Christians, don shift their focus. The goalpost of righteousness dey move every day for society, even for church. Many people don begin dey copy worldly lifestyle; this one na disobedience to God command for 2 Corinthians 6:17 wey say, “Come out from among them and be separate.” 

Romans 12:2 still remind us say make we no follow the pattern of this world, but make our mind renew by God word. Sadly, e be like say everybody don start to follow the world’s style. We get to dey serious about wetin we believe, accept, and how we act. Look Joseph story for Genesis 39:8–9, e refuse to sin against God even when temptation full ground. That means say we too suppose stand gidigba and no bend God standard for anybody. 

Ask yourself again: wetin be the base of your standard? Which belief dey guide the way you dey act? 

Like Joseph, you go fit stand for righteousness even when sin look easy or popular? 

If we allow flesh to control us, e go lead us enter corruption as Galatians 6:8 talk. But if we let the Spirit guide us, we go produce the fruit of the Spirit wey go help us resist worldly compromise. Micah 6:8 don already tell us wetin God expect from us, but many times we no dey do am. For personal, financial, or political gain, people dey change God standard just to gain favour. But Psalm 24:3–4 dey clear say only persin with clean hands and pure heart fit stand before God. 

As Christians, God expect our life to show say we truly be Him children. Many people for society today dey promote “good” values, but make we no confuse them with God values. Not every custom, tradition, or family standard dey godly just because e “good” or “clean.” We get to choose God way above every other message — no matter who talk am, even if na celebrities or popular people. 

Na God dey set standard—no be man. God talk say, “I go set up My standard.” For Bible, “standard” mean: A divine banner. A clear expectation. A model for right behaviour and conduct. A mark wey show alignment under God authority. 

God’s standard na call to alignment. When God raise Him banner, e dey call us say, “Come under My way, waka for My truth, and follow My righteousness.” When God lift Him hand to the nations, e mean say Him standard dey public, open, and e no dey negotiable. 

Through Him Word, God fit transform us to new people by changing the way we think. We need mind wey dey think like God, one wey don soak up God Word, not world view. Because Godly standards no dey change—and dem no fit ever disappear. 

REFLECTION QUESTIONS 

·       Which area of my life I don unknowingly begin to follow worldly standard instead of God own? 

·       How I fit, like Joseph, stand strong for righteousness even when compromise easy or acceptable? 

·       Wetin I fit do every day to renew my mind with God Word so that my actions go reflect Him will always? 

PRAYER: Dear Lord, help me for this world wey full of confusion and different opinions, make I hold tight to Your godly standards and values. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
