PIDGIN THE JUDAS GOAT!

Matthew 7:15 “ “Make yu shine yor eye, bikos lie-lie profets go kom like sheep, but for inside dia heart, dem bi wiked animal wey dey kill.”

 

Di first time wey I hear “Judas goat”, e shock me and I come wan write about am. For farm, Judas goat na trained goat wey dem dey use lead sheep or cattle go slaughter. Di goat go dey waka go danger with confidence, and di other animals go follow am — because dem trust am, dem know am, and e look like say e sure of where e dey go. Di goat no go die, but e influence go destroy di whole flock. 

Dis picture dey disturbing, but e dey very biblical. Scripture don warn us plenty times about people, systems, and influences wey go look harmless — even helpful — but na dem dey lead hearts commot from God way. 

Jesus Himself warn us say danger no always dey from open enemy; sometimes na from familiar voice wey dey quietly shift us from truth. 

Judas goat influence dey mislead through familiarity. Di tragedy of Judas goat no be say e strong, but say people sabi am. Sheep dey follow because dem recognize am. Same way, di most dangerous influences for our life no be di loud temptations. Na di quiet ones: One friend wey advice dey always push you away from obedience. Culture wey make compromise look normal. Leader wey use charisma cover deception. Desire wey feel correct but no agree with Scripture. 

Paul warn di Corinth church say, “Satan sef dey disguise like angel of light” (2 Corinthians 11:14). Deception go look like wisdom. E go sound like progress. E go feel like freedom. But di end na destruction. 

Di serpent no drag Eve enter sin for Genesis 3; e lead am. E use talk, curiosity, and half-truth. E sound reasonable. E appeal to desire. E question God motive. Di serpent na di first Judas goat — wey lead humanity go death while e dey look like say e get sense. 

Absalom stand for city gate for 2 Samuel 15, dey win people heart with charm and fake care. Scripture talk say, “He steal di hearts of di people of Israel” (v.6). E position himself like better option pass David, but e influence lead Israel enter rebellion and bloodshed. 

Peter own words for Matthew 16:21–23 show say e love Jesus well, but him emotional reaction become stumbling block. Jesus rebuke am sharply: “You no dey set your mind on God things, but on human things.” 

Even people wey mean well fit dey misled if dem no align with God will. 

Judas Iscariot criticize Mary worship for John 12:4–6 like say na financial wisdom. E words sound practical, even noble. But Scripture show say him heart corrupt. Judas goat go dey speak like say e wise, but inside e get selfish motive. 

Judas goat influence still dey work today. Di enemy no dey use force; e dey use influence. 

E dey use: Familiarity — This one feel normal. Comfort — This one easy. Emotion — This one feel right. Reasoning — This one make sense. Culture — Everybody dey do am. 

But Proverbs 14:12 talk say, “Way dey wey go look right to man, but di end na death.” 

Judas goat no need to look evil; e just no align with God. 

Di cure for deception no be suspicion — na discernment. 

Jesus talk say, “My sheep dey hear my voice, I know dem, and dem dey follow me” (John 10:27). 

Sheep no dey survive by every sound, but by knowing di Shepherd voice well well, so any fake voice go clear. 

Discernment dey grow through: Scripture — di truth wey no dey change. Prayer — where motives dey purify. Community — wise believers wey dey sharpen us. 

Obedience — practice wey dey strengthen spiritual sensitivity. 

Di closer we dey waka with Jesus, di harder e go be to follow Judas goat. 

Sometimes God go allow us see di Judas goats for our life — no be to shame us, but to save us. 

E dey expose deception to protect destiny. E dey reveal fake voices to bring clarity back. E dey stop bad patterns to realign us with Him purpose. 

Him correction na mercy. Him exposure na love. 

REFLECTION QUESTIONS 

·       Which voices or influences for my life feel familiar but fit dey quietly carry me commot from God truth? 

·       Na where I don follow convenience, emotion, or culture instead of di Shepherd voice? 

·       How I fit strengthen my discernment so I go quickly recognize wrong path? 

PRAYER: Father, open my eyes make I recognize every influence wey dey carry me commot from Your will. Teach me make I know Your voice clearly and confidently. Remove every Judas goat for my path and align my heart with Your truth. Lead me for di everlasting way in Jesus name. Amen.
