PIDGIN QUALIFIED BY GRACE, NOT BY STRENGTH!

1 Korintians 1:25–31 “ Bikos God foolishness wise pass all di sense wey human being get and God weakness strong pass all di pawa wey dem get.

26My brodas and sistas, make una remember how God koll una, nor bi bikos una wise, strong or get money well-well. 27But God choose wetin di world tink sey dey foolish and weak, so dat wise and strong pipol go shame. 28Wetin di world tink sey nor good, naim God choose; tins wey dem tink sey nor mean anytin, na doz tins E make important. 29God do like dis, so dat nobody go fit boast for en front. 30Una don bi Christ friends bikos of God and na thru Christ wi get wisdom, goodness and holiness wey kom from God; 31bikos, God word sey, “Anybody wey won boast, make e use Christ take boast.”

 

God no dey call only people wey already qualify – na Him dey qualify the people wey Him call. Him wisdom pass human understanding, and Him power dey perfect for our weakness. “The foolishness of God dey wiser than men, and the weakness of God dey stronger than men.” 

Before we use talk like “I too young, I too old, I too weak, I no go school reach, I too ordinary” take disqualify ourselves, God dey call us make we look Scripture and see how Him dey purposely use wetin world dey call weak to show Him glory. 

Examples of “weak” people and things wey God use: 

A left‑handed man — Ehud for Judges 3:15. 

An ox goad — Shamgar ordinary farm tool turn weapon for Judges 3:31. 

A woman — Deborah, prophetess and judge for Judges 4:4–9. 

A tent peg — Jael use ordinary peg for deliverance for Judges 4:21. 

A donkey — God open donkey mouth make e talk for Numbers 22:28–31. 

A fish — Bring out coin to pay tax for Matthew 17:27. 

A stone — David use am strike Goliath for 1 Samuel 17:49. 

The jawbone of a donkey — Samson use am as uncommon weapon for Judges 15:16. 

A song and confusion — Gideon win battle through worship and obedience for Judges 7:19–22. 

All this example remind us say God no need human strength, packaging, certificate or perfection to carry out Him purpose. Na the Holy Spirit dey enable us. 

Many times we dey think say because we get gift, training or experience, na that one give us right to serve God. But Bible teach say our sufficiency come from Him: “I fit do all things through Christ wey strengthens me” say Philippians 4:13. “Not by might or by power, but by My Spirit, says the Lord” talk Zechariah 4:6, and “Our adequacy come from God” talk 2 Corinthians 3:5. 

God dey chose by purpose, no be by performance! 

God no dey choose based on age, status, tribe, gender or background. E choose according to Him will and purpose: John 15:16 talk say “You no choose Me, but I chose you.” Romans 8:29 say “Those wey He foreknew He predestined to conform to the image of Him Son.” And 1 Samuel 16:7 say, “Man looks outside appearance, but God dey look the heart.” 

We no fit work for or earn God grace – na free Him dey call, equip and empower us. But na the humble Him dey lift. The Lord dey use and promote people wey surrender to Am according to 1 Peter 5:6 and Isaiah 64:8. 

God dey happy to turn weak vessels to instrument of power for Him glory. 

You go surrender? 

Every weak person or thing wey God use get one thing in common – dem yield to Am. Fish, donkey, stone, peg – none of dem carry pride or argue with God. God fit use dem because dem dey available. 

How much more wetin Him fit do with believer wey ready? “Him strength dey perfect for our weakness,” talk 2 Corinthians 12:9. “God don chose the foolish things… so that no flesh go glory for Him presence,” talk 1 Corinthians 1:27–29. 

Believers fit look foolish for world eye, but for God eye, na treasure dem be. Him dey turn ordinary people to extraordinary instrument. 

God dey find availability, no be ability – willingness, no be perfection. 

Begin from where you dey, with wetin you get. 

He go carry you go where Him want make you reach. 

REFLECTION QUESTIONS 

·       In which area of your life you don dey disqualify yourself, and wetin God fit dey ask you make you surrender give am? 

·       Which Bible example of “weak thing” touch you pass, and why? 

·       How you fit depend more on the power of the Holy Spirit instead of your own strength or qualification? 

PRAYER: Father, I thank You say na Your grace qualify me, no be my human strength. Take my weaknesses and use dem for Your glory. Mould me into vessel of honour – willing, surrendered and yielded to Your Spirit. Empower me to waka boldly inside the calling wey You put for my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
