PIDGIN SPIRITUAL AMNESTY!

1 Samuel 11:12–13

“Den di pipol kon tell Samuel, “Na who bi di pipol wey dey ask sey, ‘So Saul go kon rule us?’ Tell us who dem bi, so dat wi go kill all of dem!”

13But Saul ansa, “Una nor go kill anybody today. Bikos God don make Israel pipol win!”

Amnesty na official pardon wey dem dey give people wey don commit offence. E dey wipe guilt, cancel punishment, and restore freedom. When we talk about spiritual amnesty, we dey talk sometin even higher—pardon of spiritual offences by merciful, forgiving God. Bible show say even though enemy dey plan to destroy, God dey always step in with compassion, give Him people road to escape judgment and enter restoration.

Bible describe Satan as roaring lion wey dey look for who to devour (1 Peter 5:8). Revelation 12:9 call am deceiver of the whole world. Sometimes, e dey successfully trap or accuse believers. But because of God mercy, we no ever dey fully for enemy hand. God don set system of spiritual amnesty—constant invitation to return, repent, and dey restored. Him mercy dey scatter enemy plans and pull us from under weight of condemnation.

We need spiritual amnesty because we dey world wey full of temptation, wickedness, and spiritual pollution. Even strong believer fit stumble. God, wey know our human weakness, don make rescue provision before we even fall. Without Him amnesty, our offence for end for spiritual death. But Lamentations 3:21–22 remind us say na God steadfast love and covenant mercy dey stop us from being consumed. Him mercy no be once and for all event; e dey renew every morning.

We see strong example of amnesty for 2 Samuel 19:16–23. Shimei curse and insult King David when David dey in trouble. By law, David fit punish am. But when Shimei humble himself, David extend mercy and give am amnesty. Na so too, God—our real King—dey pardon us daily for offences wey suppose bring judgment. Mercy dey triumph over justice.

Another powerful picture dey for Matthew 27:16–26, where Barabbas—bad criminal wey guilty of murder and rebellion—gain release instead of Jesus. Even though na Pilate announce di release, di scene mirror wetin God dey do for us. Na we be guilty ones, but Christ take our place. Barabbas waka free because Jesus take condemnation. Na pure spiritual amnesty be that—freedom wey person no deserve because another Person carry punishment.

Even today, government dey grant amnesty for political matter, immigration, or national reconciliation. If imperfect human system fit extend mercy, how much more Almighty God—the perfect Judge—go offer pardon to Him children? But Jesus warn say we no fit receive wetin we no gree give. If we refuse others forgiveness, like di crowd for Luke 23:18 wey shout for death instead of mercy, we dey close door against God amnesty for our own life.

God heart from beginning don be to keep Him people from destruction. For Numbers 35:6–34, He set six cities of refuge—safe places where people wey commit offence fit run enter until matter clear. Dose cities be physical sign say God prefer preserve life, no be destroy am. Today, na Jesus be our City of Refuge. Through am, we dey find safety from enemy accusation and escape from spiritual death.

Spiritual amnesty dey stop enemy from destroying us before time. 1 John 2:1 talk say Jesus be our Advocate—divine Lawyer wey dey stand for front of Father on our behalf. When enemy bring charge against us, Jesus dey speak for us. Him blood na our defence. Him sacrifice na our legal covering. Him mercy na our way out of judgment.

Amnesty no just dey protect; e dey empower. E dey restore dignity, rights, and spiritual authority. E free us from guilt so we fit waka boldly in purpose. E lift shame so we fit serve God with confidence. E remind us say no matter how far we fall, God still get plan to bring us back.

Spiritual amnesty no be for small selected group. E dey available to every believer—to broken, repentant, weary, wandering, and returning hearts. Na God promise say mercy go always outrun judgment, and grace go always ready for anybody wey call on Him.
