QUALITY CONTROL!
Colossians 3:23 AMPC
Whatever may be your task,
work at it heartily (from the soul), as [something done] for the Lord and not
for men,
Quality control may sound
like a modern business term, but the heart behind it—excellence, integrity,
diligence, and accountability—runs deeply through Scripture. From Genesis to
Revelation, God reveals Himself as a God of precision, order, and intentionality.
He cares not only that something is done, but how it is done. For believers,
quality is not merely a professional standard; it is a spiritual posture that
reflects the character of the God we serve.
God sets the first standard
of quality. Genesis 1 opens with a rhythm of creation and evaluation. After
each act of creation, Scripture says, “God saw that it was good”. God did not
simply create; He inspected, assessed, and approved. This is the earliest
biblical picture of quality control: produce → evaluate → affirm.
God’s example teaches us
that excellence is not accidental. It is intentional, thoughtful, and measured.
If God Himself evaluates His work, how much more should we, His image-bearers,
approach our work with care and reflection.
When God instructed Moses to
build the tabernacle, He did not leave the work to chance. He appointed Bezalel
and Oholiab—men described as “skilled,” “wise-hearted,” and “filled with the
Spirit of God” in Exodus 31:1–6. Their craftsmanship was not casual; it was
Spirit-enabled excellence because excellence is a kingdom value.
This means skill matters, training
matters, attention to detail matters and the right people doing the right work
matters.
Quality control begins with
the conviction that God deserves our best, not our leftovers.
One of the clearest biblical
parallels to modern quality control is the repeated command to use honest
measurements as seen in Proverbs 11:1 and Leviticus 19:35–36. In ancient times,
dishonest scales were a way to cheat customers. Today, the equivalent might be
cutting corners, producing substandard work, or compromising ethical standards
for convenience or profit.
God calls His people to
integrity in every process. Quality control is not just about the final
product—it is about the honesty of the journey.
We must be diligence and accountable!
Proverbs is full of wisdom about the consequences of sloppy work, Proverbs 10:4
and 18:9.
Jesus reinforces this in the
parable of the wise and foolish builders in Matthew 7:24–27. One builder chose
quality—digging deep, laying a solid foundation. The other chose convenience.
When the storm came, the difference in their work was exposed.
Quality control is not about
perfectionism; it is about responsibility. It is about building in such a way
that what we produce can withstand pressure, scrutiny, and time.
Jesus said in Luke 16:10
that, “Whoever can be trusted with little can also be trusted with much.” This
is the essence of consistent quality. Excellence is not proven in grand moments
but in the quiet, unseen, everyday tasks. The believer who is faithful in small
responsibilities is demonstrating the character needed for greater assignments.
Are you faithfulness in small things?
Paul’s instruction is simple
yet profound: “Whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men.”
Make your work is also worship to the Lord.
This transforms quality from
a workplace requirement into an act of worship. When we work with excellence,
we honour God. When we cut corners, we misrepresent Him.
Quality control is a
spiritual discipline that shapes us into trustworthy stewards of God’s
resources. It becomes a way of saying, “Lord, You are worthy of my best.”
REFLECTION QUESTIONS
· Where
in my life or work have I been tempted to cut corners instead of offering God
my best?
· How
can I build habits of excellence and integrity in the small, unseen tasks of my
daily life?
· What
would change if I viewed every assignment—big or small—as an act of worship to
God?
PRAYER: Lord, You are a God
of excellence, order, and beauty. Teach me to reflect Your character in
everything I do. Help me to work with integrity, diligence, and joy. Strengthen
my hands to produce what honours You, in Jesus’ name, amen.
