CHILD-FRIENDLY DON’T BE HINDERED!

Genesis 24:56 AMPC

But [the servant] said to them, Do not hinder and delay me, seeing that the Lord has caused me to go prosperously on my way. Send me away, that I may go to my master.

 

To hinder means to stop someone from moving forward or to make something harder to do. Jesus used this word when His disciples tried to stop the children from coming to Him. He told them, “Do not hinder them.” Jesus wanted the children to come close because He loves them.

Sometimes we also face things that try to hinder us. It could be someone’s words, our own fears, or even feeling like we are not good enough. Sometimes we want to do something for God, but we stop because we feel shy, scared, or unsure. These feelings can slow us down just like obstacles on a road.

In the Bible, Abraham’s servant had finished his job of finding a wife for Isaac. He was ready to go back home, but Rebekah’s family wanted him to stay longer. They were trying to delay him. But the servant said, “Do not hinder me.” He knew he needed to obey God quickly.

The enemy also tries to hinder us by putting distractions, temptations, or wrong friends in our path. But God wants us to keep going and not give up. Hebrews 12:1 tells us to remove anything that slows us down so we can run our race for God with strength.

Sometimes hindrances look small—like being too busy, spending too much time on games, or choosing the wrong friends. But even small things can stop us from praying, reading the Bible, or obeying God.

Like Abraham’s servant, we must learn to say, “Do not hinder me.” When God tells us to do something, we should obey quickly and joyfully.

Keep going. Keep growing. Don’t let anything stop you from following Jesus.

•     What things make it hard for me to follow Jesus every day? 

•     Are there friends or habits that slow me down in my walk with God? 

•     What can I do this week to stay focused on Jesus?

PRAYER: Lord, thank You for helping me follow You. Please remove anything that tries to stop me from obeying You. Give me strength to keep going and to stay close to You every day. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
